Strengths
Very athletic and compact build. Great overall strength. Agile with light feet. Low coming off the ball. Impact blocks are very powerful. Strong on down blocks and double teams. Will wrestle opponents to the ground when he gets his hands on them. Terrific power on two-handed shoves. Can bury opponents in the trenches. Very good ability to hit a block and move to the second level. Impressive redirect quickness. Tremendous acceleration to get out in space. Will look to drive when he connects with smaller defenders. Levels opponents with accuracy and power in the open field. Extremely effective on cut blocks. Stays balanced with various pre-snap foundations. Pass sets are extremely quick. Able to speed up feet and keeps poise while mirroring speed rushes. Slides to close the distance versus wide pass rushers. Uses hands/reach as a pass blocker. Excellent anchor strength. Played left tackle for a high-powered offense but has made starts at left guard.
Weaknesses
Needs to tighten up overall precision and be more assignment focused. Would like to see him engage better with his hands. Could move his feet better to square up opponents in the running game. Misses on some pulls despite movement skills. Might struggle versus stronger players with length. Movements as a pass blocker can be segmented. Will turn his hips with suddenness rather than fluidity. Susceptible to inside counters when he fully opens hips in pass protection. Seems unprepared for spin moves. Awareness is inconsistent as a pass blocker. Will unnecessarily help a teammate rather than staying at home in pass protection and leave a clear path for late rushers. Below-average length at tackle that shows up with some whiffs.

Conclusion
Overall, Fautanu is a strong, agile offensive lineman that fits best as a guard in a zone-blocking scheme at the next level. If he can hone in his technique and keep his power/edge inside, Fautanu should pay off as a borderline first-round prospect.
