Strengths

Prototype overall size. Remarkably light feet for a player his height. High awareness and feel for the game. Clearly possesses natural athleticism based on movements. Base is extremely balanced. Very smooth and technical in space. Great footwork in general. No wasted movement. Soft feet in pass sets. Very poised. Stays wide and is tough to get around. Excellent stopping power versus power rushers. Speeds up his feet to match speed rushes. Controlled reaching wide rushers. Has no issue dealing with spin moves. Quick out of his stance. Excellent footwork and fundamentals before engaging opponents in the running game. Always seems to be under control as a run blocker. Very smooth redirecting his hips. Engages and turns with extension to create a running lane. Great upper-body strength to move defensive linemen off the spot. Has some brawler to him when he gets deep in the trenches. Quiet and efficient working to the second level. Drives to push back linebackers. Stays attached on outside runs. Very good acceleration as a puller. Patient finding defenders to block in space. Experience with unbalanced lines. NFL bloodlines as the son of former Pro Bowl offensive lineman John Alt.

Weaknesses

Has a slight forward lean at the waist in pass protection that could result in balance issues. Would like a bit more patience at times in pass protection. Movement blocks versus smaller opponents can have more pop.

Conclusion

Overall, Alt is a big offensive tackle with light feet, impressive athleticism, and great fundamentals. He only played the blindside at Notre Dame, but Alt should be an option for teams seeking an option on either side of the offensive line.
