Strengths

Solid and athletic overall build. Hands are huge and powerful. Pass sets are smooth. Very balanced base as a pass blocker. Soft and quiet footwork. Comfortable widening sets to meet rushers. Doesn’t overextend in pass protection. Quick to settle in to match rushers. Shows an ability to rebalance when rushers get to his chest. Instantly attaches in scan mode when defenders get close. Aware and intelligent. Does a nice job picking up stunts. Will bump and stick with opponents. Fluid hips and movement skills. Strong hands allow him to stay attached when he latches on. Plus overall strength as a run blocker. Effective on inside pulls. Good smoothness to get to the second level and box in defenders on outside runs. Excellent acceleration getting out in space. Above-average speed. Accurate hitting targets in the open field. Team captain. Showed very well versus top pass rushers for UCLA (2023).

Weaknesses

Below-average length at offensive tackle. Can get walked back when opponents get inside his frame on power rushes. Shows vulnerability versus inside moves and can be slow to react. Feet appear to get stuck in the mud at times for slower reactions in general. Kicks are a bit choppy when getting depth as a pass blocker. Will struggle to reach some pure speed rushes. Hand placement around the back of rushers needs to be avoided. Opponents can shed quickly when they get their hands on him. Could be more controlled and accurate trying to connect on the second level. Really struggled versus Washington standout Bralen Trice (2023). Suffered a torn ACL in 2022.

Conclusion

Overall, Morgan is a very steady offensive tackle that usually gets the job done despite some flaws in pass protection. Teams will hope that another year removed from his torn ACL will help clean up the issues and allow Morgan to reach his full form.
