Strengths
Prototype size and build. Big arm and stands tall in the pocket. Very strong and mobile. Shows natural accuracy. Ball comes out of his hand with zip. Able to rifle throws outside the numbers. Steps up in the pocket to deliver the ball downfield. Fantastic accuracy deeper between the numbers and down the seams. Generally accurate on downfield passes. Plenty of arm talent to make throws across his body and from various platforms. Flashed a quick release while scrambling. Able to launch throws accurately off his back foot. Willing to stand in the pocket and work through progressions. Delivers strikes on deeper in-breaking routes. Excellent quick-strike accuracy. Throws darts underneath. Hits targets in stride and on the numbers for slant routes. Natural feel for pulling pass-catchers away from coverage. Allows receivers to clear windows on crossing routes. Layers throws on deep crossers that get close to the sideline. Great throwing on the move in either direction. Very accurate rolling out and throwing comebacks along the sideline. Terrific playmaking instincts and creativity to make things happen. Scans the field for open targets on second-chance plays. Good feel for sensing pressure and picking up positive yardage. Uses a stiff arm to escape rushers. Quick to take advantage of running room up the middle. Very good speed when he gets going. Tough and elusive to shed tackles. Will hurt defenses by keeping it on zone reads. Rushing threat in scoring territory. Experience with play-action fakes and turning his back to the defense.
Weaknesses
Doesn’t like a read but then will go back to it for some reason while putting the ball in danger (defender recovers and undercuts). Late on some open throws. Inconsistent working his progressions and hitting the right target. Had stretches of poor ball placement. Deep ball can be too flat and leave little room for error. Trying to put more air on downfield throws often resulted in them sailing out of bounds. Release from the pocket will get long/looping. Seemed to aim/finesse throws that lead to misses. Footwork can get sloppy. Sometimes too eager to run rather than seeing a teammate about to come open. Can take open checkdowns more in the flat. Will pat the ball in the pocket.

Conclusion
Overall, Maye is a prototype quarterback with great arm strength, solid accuracy, and tremendous playmaking instincts. Teams will need to decide if some of the weaknesses can be corrected with more game experience or if they are simply part of his DNA.
