Strengths

Muscular build and extremely strong. Outstanding play speed. Great reaction time. Tremendous play recognition on the attack. Excellent pursuit and hustle. Knows how to sift through traffic while running to the ball. Top-tier tackler in the open field. Tackles with force and aggression. Terrific technique and completely wraps up opponents. Strikes hard and rolls his hips to finish. Will absolutely fly into the backfield while staying under control to tackle. Tracks ball-carriers as the backside defender. Very secure tackler as the last line of defense. Uses hands to extend and keep blockers off him. Quick to side step a block. Has experience blitzing from the box and edge. Used as a quarterback spy close to the line of scrimmage. Shows relentlessness in pursuit of the quarterback. Great feet and ability to match in man coverage. Extremely fast plant-and-break acceleration. Fast in the backpedal. Very good ability to flip his hips. Excellent anticipation and good range as a deep safety. Team captain.

Weaknesses

Limited length to contest at the catch point. Could be better moving and positioning himself in intermediate zone coverage. Can freelance too much as a rover. Would like to see less vertical depth in the side shuffle on deep zone drops. Needs to be wary of biting on a route and allowing a step deep. Questions whether he has natural ball skills. Will take some poor angles into the second level.

Conclusion

Overall, Mustapha is a strong, aggressive safety that tackles at an extremely high level and shows impressive ability in coverage. The best fit would likely be in a Vic Fangio-type scheme with split safety looks and increased opportunities in man coverage.
