Strengths

Good overall frame and catch radius. Tremendous acceleration. Great hands and catches the ball cleanly. Outstanding catch focus in contested situations. Able to come away with passes through contact at the catch point. Uses late hands at all levels. Can extend for passes off his frame. Excellent catch focus and reaction time on deflected passes. Secures passes while going to the ground to protect himself and the ball. Smooth catching on the run. Routes are crisp and crafty. Very effective on crossing routes and adjusting to catch between the cornerback and safety. Terrific on deep over routes. Ideal timing and effectiveness on drag routes. Works back to the football on stop routes. Good speed and is able to find open space as a vertical target. Shows an ability to contort his body on downfield passes. Courageous reaching up or extending with defenders bearing down on downfield throws. Catches the ball very well over the shoulder. Finds space through zone coverage on broken plays. Knows how to throttle down and present a target on stop routes along the sideline. Great feet on the boundary. Excellent overall blocker that shows commitment and intensity. Has made blocks between the tackles after being sent in motion. High football character and work ethic.

Weaknesses

Doesn’t really explode in and out of breaks as a route runner. Slow plays too many routes. Releases are too deliberate at times. Somewhat limited making things happen after the catch, Would like to see him avoid looping backwards after the catch near the sideline. Showed a possible habit of letting go of the ball immediately after a catch (would like to see it cleaned up to prevent any doubt of a catch).

Conclusion

Overall, Polk is a natural pass-catcher with tremendous hands and catch focus along with high-end work ethic. He projects best as a strong complementary piece that can play inside or outside for an NFL passing attack.
