San Francisco clearly followed their own board with their 2026 draft haul, which is the way to go if you want to “beat” the consensus and come away with a home-run class. Who would we have taken following the same strategy using the Wolf Sports board?

Thoughts
Again, the 49ers clearly didn’t care about draft projections based on who they selected last month, and time will determine whether they are right or wrong. We were lower on some of their selections, though, and that includes De’Zhaun Stribling (our No. 99 overall prospect)—so we’ll see if Kyle Shanahan is able to get the most out of him on the perimeter. Germie Bernard would have been our selection as a player who felt like the perfect fit in San Francisco.
In the third round, the Niners started off with our favorite selection of theirs in speed rusher Romello Height; he’ll immediately add juice across from Nick Bosa and is a perfect complement to Mykel Williams on passing downs. Then, Kaelon Black was another surprise selection, but San Francisco surely placed a ton of value on his effectiveness as a pass blocker.
Our board would have led to Jermod McCoy as the best player available, and Deommodore Lenoir being able to play the slot would allow the rookie to get on the field immediately across from Renardo Green if health cooperates. The second third-rounder would have been used on DJ Campbell, and he should be able to transition from right to left guard with Dominick Puni locked into a starting role.
With their trio of selections in Round 4, the 49ers first added to the defensive line with Gracen Halton, and they have a more formidable and deeper group as they move to more 3-4 looks under new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. After that, they went to the offensive line with Carver Willis to player either guard or tackle, and Ephesians Prysock is an outside cornerback who will compete with Nate Hobbs and Jack Jones for top backup job.
Our board led to a trio of defenders who could make an impact with Keionte Scott (who we are high enough on to believe he can push Upton Stout in the slot), Harold Perkins Jr. (who can also factor in on the edge), and Zane Durant (who would fit the rotation nicely as a penetrator on the interior).
Finishing things off, we would have turned to offense with John Michael Gyllenborg and Deion Burks as young pass-catchers, while the Niners took Jaden Dugger at linebacker and Enrique Cruz Jr. on the offensive line.
