Strengths
Solid overall size and length. Instinctive in underneath zone coverage. Excellent technique and awareness as an underneath zone defender. Will react and jump inside throws from outside coverage. Outstanding awareness as a zone defender down the field. Very aware reading things out and passing receivers off on intermediate zone drops. Ideal communication in zone coverage. Great comfort and technique in the backpedal. Showed an ability to read a receiver and react to match the route. Jumps on stop routes at the intermediate level. Closes off out-breaking routes from the backpedal. Very quick feet and reaction time to stick with stop routes. Very good burst and acceleration. Quality smoothness opening up out of the press. Great accuracy jamming bigger receivers in press coverage. Has quickness to close off space on slant routes versus bigger targets. Knows how to plaster receivers on quarterback scrambles. Tremendous ball skills. Mostly played left cornerback but has experience on both sides. Essentially aligned as a safety on snaps with no receivers on his side and looked natural moving on the backend. Shows aggression hitting at the catch point. Excellent awareness and works to get around blockers to tackle on screen passes. Gives effort to get off blocks. Extends with both arms to engage and will effectively shed. Quick to trigger downhill in run support. Very effective when attacking to tackle on the outside. Breaks down to tackle. Sticks his nose in to tackle when needed. Chops down ball-carriers on outside runs. Patient keeping outside contain in run support. Good pursuit away from the ball. Quick blitzing off the edge.
Weaknesses
Average speed. Cover transitions can be segmented. Sometimes gets handsy down the field during the route. Will instinctively get his hands high and grab when receivers get on top of him from the backpedal. Needs to be careful about guessing when receivers give a hard plant during the route or hard sell on their release. Will take a false step forward and allow a receiver to get behind him. Inconsistent depth in underneath/intermediate zone drops. Inconsistent covering in general. Would like to see him wrap up accurately rather than going low at times. Allowed a jump ball touchdown on a fade versus Miami despite heavy contact and getting his head around (2025). Had trouble squaring up to tackle Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney a couple of times near the sideline (2025). Fooled on a flea flicker on the first play versus Virginia but was bailed out by an underthrown pass (2025).

Conclusion
Overall, Wright is an aware, instinctive cornerback who fits best in a zone-heavy defense with limited deep responsibilities from the outside. If unable to clean up the inconsistencies in coverage, Wright could have an intriguing skillset at safety.
