Strengths

Excellent size and length. Tremendous overall instincts and reaction time. Very patient in press coverage. Very disruptive jamming in press coverage. Good quickness and fluidity opening his hips from the press at his size. Will jam and be combative covering fade routes. Physical in coverage down the sideline. Calmly reads and matches routes when they get close in zone coverage. Terrific awareness and play recognition reading route combinations while retreating in zone coverage. Stays on top of downfield routes from cushion coverage. Very good speed to carry vertical routes. Sticks to out-breaking routes from cushion coverage. Outstanding length to disrupt passes in the air. Does a good job staying close to opponents if he slightly bites on a route. Great feet at his size to stick with receivers on scrambles. Played on both sides of the formation. Saw snaps playing man and zone coverage in the slot. Active and aware moving in zone coverage from the slot. Good fluidity covering corner routes from the slot. Quality ball skills and instincts. Had a game-sealing interception versus Michigan (2025). Very effective coming up and chopping down opponents after the catch. Able to effectively corral opponents in space before they get going as a runner. Looks to side step blockers on the perimeter. Aggressive working to the ball in run support. Very quick rection time to work inside in run support. Darts inside and wraps up effectively as runners break the line of scrimmage. Strikes accurately and with pop coming in to tackle on the second level. Willing to get in the box to help bring down ball-carriers. Keeps outside contain on runs to the perimeter. Aggressive getting to the pile to help stop runs. Very effective tracking and tackling as the backside defender. Really struggled with penalties in 2024 but seemed to regain his confidence in 2025.

Weaknesses

Can be susceptible to more complex and quicker routes. Has some stiffness in more vertical cover transitions. Will get handsy when he doesn’t locate the ball defending vertical routes. Has been fooled by vertical plays and will allow deep separation. Inconsistent footwork and can lack efficiency defending comebacks and out-breaking routes. Sometimes delayed reacting to in-breaking routes with a cushion. Can be better finding his way through traffic versus drag routes. Needs to avoid getting stuck inside from closer alignment on outside runs. Lacks strength as a one-on-one tackler out in space when ball-carriers have a head of steam. Lacks strength taking on offensive linemen and can get absorbed. Struggled early stopping outside runs versus Michigan with offensive linemen reaching him on the perimeter (2025).

Conclusion

Overall, Igbinosun is a long, aggressive cornerback with an ability to win in press coverage and read routes in off coverage. Based on the strides made in his final season after a down 2024 campaign, teams should be encouraged about his NFL outlook.
