Strengths
Solid build and very good length in the slot. Terrific speed and agility. Extremely instinctive. Tremendous play recognition. Stays low and ready to react in coverage. Very quick jumping on underneath routes in zone coverage. Excellent closing on out routes when giving a small cushion. Quick recovering if he falls behind. Battles in coverage at the catch point. Great accuracy getting a hand in at the catch point. Very quick passing off routes in zone coverage. Purposeful in movements while scanning the field as a zone defender. Experience defending tight ends and stays on underneath. Tremendous burst and instincts jumping throws from the slot. Very instinctive playing the ball. Athletic and won’t hesitate to leave his feet to play the ball in the air. Fast with the ball in his hands after interceptions. Completely changed the game with a pick-six versus Ohio State in the College Football Playoff (2025). Aggressive getting around blocks on screen passes. Excellent speed and burst as a blitzer. Gets into the backfield in a flash as a blitzer. Very accurate and fast hitting the quarterback as a blitzer. Terrific quickness getting around opponents and through a gap as a blitzer. Fiery and physical run defender. Plays like a linebacker in terms of aggression and mindset lined up closer to the ball. Very strong wrapping up in the backfield. Very effective wrap-up tackler in general. Sticks his nose in and gets low as a tackler around the line of scrimmage. Extremely quick getting around offensive linemen to the ball. Quick feet while working through heavy traffic in pursuit. Shows all-out effort chasing the ball. Outstanding tackling in backside pursuit. Throws his body around inside trying to make tackles. Physical taking on tight ends on the edge. Strong using his hands to get off blocks. Moves his feet trying to get off blocks and never shies away from getting free to tackle. Very quick dipping around blockers in space. Impressive strength pushing blockers back in space to get to the ball. Aggression as a run defender can lead to holding calls. Always hustling to the action and giving as much effort as possible.
Weaknesses
Frequency as a blitzer leaves questions about his effectiveness in coverage with very limited opportunities. Needs to be more prepared for vertical routes in coverage. Can get turned around defending vertical route cuts. Gets crossed up too much on intermediate routes. Can get pushed out when offensive linemen catch him clean in space. Had some missed tackles versus Louisville’s athletic ball-carriers.

Conclusion
Overall, Scott is an extremely fiery and instinctive defender who can be both a tone-setter and a playmaker in the slot. There are some questions to be answered about his pure cover ability, but Scott has the desired mentality and physicality for the slot in today’s NFL.
