Strengths

Good overall size and excellent length. Tremendous overall explosiveness. Twitchy and energetic play style. Extremely athletic and flies around the field. Great burst and quickness. Fast and difficult to square up on the speed rush. Dips his shoulder around the corner to prevent blockers from getting their hands on him. Terrific dip-and-rip combination move. Exceptional ability to flatten on the quarterback. Drives back opponents on power rushes. Outstanding strength with leverage extending underneath opponents. Has takedown power on bull rushes. Flashed major power on one-handed bull rushes to get straight at the quarterback. Will start with a two-handed power rush and use a swipe to get around opponents. Quick inside move as a rusher. Very strong hands on power rushes when making an inside move. Quick inside spin move. Uses a spin to free himself as a rusher. Excellent strength and effort trying to free himself in general. Instinctive getting a hand up to deflect passes on the edge. Experience on both sides of the formation. Comfortable as a stand-up rusher and with his hand in the ground. Saw snaps blitzing up the middle as an off-ball linebacker. Has experience shaded inside. High effort as an interior rusher to make up for a lack of size. Often lined up as a three-technique on early downs. Very active hands. Quick using his hands to avoid engagement. Shows patience reading things out versus the run. Shoves offensive linemen aside with impressive strength before cleaning things up with a tackle. Exceptional quickness into the backfield when crashing down. Great power taking out offensive linemen from the side when crashing down the line of scrimmage. Terrific speed in sideline pursuit. Excellent ability to run with ball-carriers and tackle near the sideline on outside runs. Hits with force tackling in space. Very quick to change direction. Plays with tremendous overall hustle and effort. Very athletic leaving his feet to dive for tackles. Disciplined staying on the running back when stringing out speed options. Very quick dropping in coverage.

Weaknesses

Can get locked up when opponents get their hands on him when trying to go lower around the edge. Moved off the spot when opponents get to his frame or by bigger blockers. Could get lower wrapping inside at times to get ball-carriers down quicker. Would like to see more stopping power in general when wrapping up.

Conclusion

Overall, Lawrence is an energetic edge defender with tremendous explosiveness, strength, and effort all over the field. He likely won’t be able to shade inside as much versus NFL competition, but Lawrence’s athleticism should make him a disruptive player on the edge.
