Strengths

Broad shoulders with huge hands. Low and athletic in his stance and off the ball. Impressive quickness into pass sets. Outstanding overall technique in pass protection. Wide and balanced in pass protection. Keeps his hands in ideal position as a pass blocker. Strong hands latching onto opponents during the rush. Soft feet and keeps them moving in pass protection. Shows smoothness speeding up his feet to match rushers while staying wide with a balanced base. Does a nice job getting his hands on opponents using dip moves. Very good ability to guide speed rushes past the quarterback. Slides to match and stick with inside moves/rushes. Calmly slides his feet to deal with interior rushes. Smooth sliding out on wider rushers. Stays balanced handling spin moves. Will fight back and stay balanced when opponents get to his frame. Excellent overall awareness in pass protection. Engages and turns opponents at the point of attack as a run blocker. Accurate hand usage blocking on the edge. Turns his hips and will check opponents with his hand to keep them in position while turning. Can kick out defenders on outside runs. Tremendous strength shown on down blocks. Great strength as a drive blocker. Strong in general to move opponents in the running game. Effective moving defenders off the ball on double teams. Very smooth turning his hips blocking on the backside of the play. Shows control and vision to accurately connect on second-level blocks. Impressive impact strength when connecting accurately on linebackers. Aggressive trying to connect with opponents in space. Follows the play behind the action. Often used on the right side for unbalanced lines.

Weaknesses

Below-average length. Can have trouble engaging when opponents get their hands inside first. Lack of length can lead to struggles reconnecting after pushing a defender back. Lacks agility in the running game with below-average mobility in general. Loses his footing and can get knocked to the ground when contacted from the side. Penetrating linebackers can get to his side at the snap. Can have trouble connecting accurately on outside pulls. Below-average acceleration and speed getting out in space towards the sideline. Foot quickness in pass protection is mostly an issue versus late loopers.

Conclusion

Overall, Casey is a very effective pass protector with great technique and a balanced base who rarely gets beat on the edge. Perhaps the lack of length will be more concerning versus NFL rushers, but Casey always gets the job done and should get a chance to be a long-term starter at tackle.
