Strengths

Big runner with great size. Terrific overall strength. Decisive making a cut and getting downhill. Knows how to work off blocks while getting through the line of scrimmage. Shows he can get skinny with some burst through a crease and/or behind blocks. Very strong shedding contact and keeping his feet through the line of scrimmage. Strong and balanced to absorb hits around the line of scrimmage. Tremendous vision when he reaches the second level. Great feet in the open field for a bigger back. Shows an ability to sink his hips adjusting his rush path into the second level. Excellent build-up speed when he gets a head of steam. Very effective stiff arm to shed tackles coming from the side. Smooth and surprisingly quick juke cut running downhill. Can make a move running downhill and barely lose speed. Effective running behind a fullback in heavy personnel. Powers forward at the goal line. Shows determination to power ahead if stopped in short-yardage situations. Will lower his shoulder into opponents and fall forward on contact. Effective on shotgun counter runs. Can sense aggressive tacklers coming from the backend on outside runs and cut it back inside. Former wide receiver. Soft hands out of the backfield. Catches the ball very smoothly. Naturally catches the ball out in front on wheel routes. Very comfortable catching further down the field. Great concentration bringing in low passes. Natural understanding of spacing as a pass-catcher. Fast and confident on flare routes and underneath routes in general. Targeted on perimeter screens when lined up out wide. Does a nice job getting in the way to block following play-action fakes. Scans the rush in pass protection. Has experience as a kick returner.

Weaknesses

Upright running style and making cuts. Average acceleration. Goes down too easily with a head of stream when defenders catch a piece of him. Lacks wiggle to make defenders miss in the open field. Could have better control keeping his feet in running down the sideline. Would like to see more burst in and out of breaks as a route runner. Could be better moving his feet as a pass blocker. Would like to see more force and physicality taking on blitzers at his size.

Conclusion

Overall, Randall is a big, downhill runner who combines old-school power and the ability to fit in more of a spread attack. Based on his background as a former wide receiver, he should be able to thrive playing all three downs.
