Strengths

Very twitchy overall athlete. Glides around the field with above-average speed. Fluid overall mover. Very good length at his size. Smooth and athletic in press coverage. Extremely strong with his hands on opponents early in the route. Excellent staying in phase while opening out of the press. Keeps base and shoulders square in press coverage. High ability to recognize routes and react in man coverage. Great burst to break on the ball. Tremendous ball skills. Rarely challenged in coverage. Has the confidence and skillset to match bigger opponents. Quick to come up in run support on the outside. Physical tackler and wraps up. Big hitter that will drill an opponent with a shoulder charge. Saw increased action in the slot in 2021.

Weaknesses

Technique can be refined outside of press coverage. Has some inconsistencies as a tackler with lunging attempts. Did not test as well as expected with slower-than-anticipated 40 time.

Conclusion

Overall, Gordon is an athletic press cornerback with impressive strength and great cover talent when being physical with opponents. He should be a target for cornerback-needy teams late on Day 1 or early on Day 2.
