Strengths

Quick feet to stick to opponents in man coverage. Rarely targeted in coverage. Sticky when he gets his hands on opponents early in the route. Great instincts and play recognition. Exceptional change-of-direction skills and acceleration. Plus speed. Tremendous burst to close on throws. Very twitchy overall player. Will eliminate any separation while the ball is in the air on underneath throws to prevent run-after-catch opportunities. Very good feel in zone coverage. Comfortable and patient in the press. Does a tremendous job disguising coverages before the snap. Good ball skills. Extremely aggressive tackler when able to attack. Excellent pursuit as a backside defender to track down the ball. Effective going for strips and will use an uppercut to punch the ball out. Won’t hesitate to join the pile on gang tackles. Good physicality taking on blocks and will try to keep opponents off his frame. Very tough and won’t get pushed around. Almost always played left cornerback but has great skillset for the slot.

Weaknesses

Below-average arm length for a perimeter cornerback. Has some trouble contending with size downfield. Can be boxed out by bigger opponents. Sometimes goes too hot for a tackle and ankle dives.

NFL comparison

Conclusion

Overall, McDuffie is a sticky cornerback with versatile cover talent and ideal aggressiveness in run support. He showed enough in college to stand up to tougher competition and increased challenges on the perimeter at the next level.
