Strengths

Tremendous mass on the interior. Doesn’t get moved off the ball as a run stuffer. Excellent power. Very light feet for his weight class. Great strength to uproot centers at the point of attack. Impeccable timing at the snap and always seems to be first out of his stance. Wins with early leverage and quickness. Great instincts and vision. Very impressive quickness at the snap. Quick to get his hands on the chest of opponents and extends. Strong hands. Uses shed and swim moves to defeat blockers. Can get skinny between blockers. Very effective shedding and finishing around the line of scrimmage. Reliable tackler when he gets his hands on a ball-carrier. Exceptional pursuit and hustle. Doesn’t hesitate to help on a tackle. Surprisingly fast closing into the backfield if unblocked. Possesses a spin move as a rusher. Impressive dip/bend for his size. Mostly a nose tackle with experience in both odd and even fronts. Plays with fire and appears to be a character.

Weaknesses

Limited tackle radius with average change-of-direction skills. Limited movement range when engaged. Often off the field on passing downs. Will fail to generate movement rushing the passer when he gets too upright. Can lose energy and stall out during a play.

Conclusion

Overall, Farrell Jr. is a hefty defensive lineman with impactful hands and impressive feet to defend the run. He should be used as a two-gapping option that can also create some disruption due to his quickness at the snap.
