Strengths

Extremely smooth overall athlete. Ideal size. Snatches the ball out of the air. Very strong hands to pluck passes and hold the ball away from defenders in contested coverage. Exceptional body control. Impressive ability to adjust to off-target throws. Extends to the edges of his catch radius. Great leaping ability. Plays bigger than his size on jump balls. Excellent at tracking end-zone fades. Creates plenty of separation on routes breaking back to the quarterback. Great at throttling down and presenting a target. Works back to the football. Will sell outside step before breaking in versus cushion coverage. Good feet in and out of breaks. Deceptive out-and-up double move. Creates separation out of the slot. Above-average speed and acceleration. Effective on bubbles/screens. Very elusive after the catch. Often makes the first defender miss. Plus strength and contact balance. Great vision as a runner and always seems to take the right path with the ball. Has lined up all over.

Weaknesses

Questions about having a special athletic trait at the next level. Can struggle with physical press coverage (versus Joey Porter Jr. in 2021 Penn State game). Benefitted from coverage due to loaded wide receiver group at Ohio State. Ran mostly boundary routes and would like to have seen how he fares in traffic more often. Can be more consistently crisp as a route runner in general.

Conclusion

Overall, Wilson is an all-around wide receiver that can snatch passes away from his body and will do damage with the ball in his hands. His best fit will likely come as the No. 2 option in a spread attack.
