Exceptional ability to match vertical routes out of the press. Shows confidence staying on the hip of opponents on downfield routes. Outstanding acceleration and recovery speed to not fall far behind. Able to stay close with quickness and speed if allowing some space on route breaks. Extremely comfortable getting his head around down the field. Great feet to stick with deep routes throttling down towards the sideline. Quick to match stop routes in general. Fluid reacting to in-breaking routes. Will jump on hitches. Highly impressive ability to mirror releases for a bigger cornerback. Experience on both sides of the formation. Has seen snaps covering in the slot. Fast darting into the backfield as a blitzer. Will wrap up to tackle in the open field. Very quick working towards the ball to position himself for tackles. Fills in run support on the edge. Gives effort to force runs back inside. Flies towards the action as a backside run defender. Had two remarkable interceptions versus Iowa including on the game-ending Hail Mary (2024). Blocked four punts and one field goal in his career.
Weaknesses
Sometimes delayed opening up to cover vertically. Can allow a step deep in cushion coverage. Shows some susceptibility to stutter moves down the field. Slower reacting to stop routes when in a full sprint. Could add more strength taking on blockers and tackling. Will get taken down by blockers in space.

Conclusion
Overall, Porter is a long outside cornerback with elite speed, tremendous movement skills, and high flashes of playmaking ability. The all-around skillset is there to play any coverage, but he is a natural fit with a team like the Raiders where he can patrol the perimeter in heavy Cover-3 usage.
