Strengths

Tremendous overall size and great length. Thick lower half but athletic build at his weight. Flashes extremely quick hands to disengage. Great pop to prevent blockers from attaching. Exceptional strength to extend and discard blockers. Will extend and peak into the backfield while taking on blocks. Strong anchoring down to clog rushing lanes. Outstanding play recognition and instincts. Hands are strong and sudden to shed and make a tackle laterally. High effort shuffling towards the ball while taking on blocks to get in on tackles. Very nimble at his size to get to ball-carriers at the point of attack. Big with tremendous stopping power wrapping up to tackle. Impressive athleticism leaving his feet and lunging for tackles. Great reaction time to tackle in the hole. Excellent overall pursuit of the ball between the tackles. Impressive agility to pursue runs away from him. Shows he will split double teams. Good burst at the snap to avoid reach blocks. Will work into the backfield and use a reverse spin to disengage and chase the ball-carrier back up the field. Excellent hustle and impressive fluidity. Great effort in pursuit towards the sideline. Will absorb wide receivers in his range. Easily discards tight ends trying to make in-line blocks. Tremendous awareness to disrupt screens and designed throws underneath. Very low in his stance for a bigger defensive lineman. Great versatility at his size to play all along the interior. Has seen snaps lined up as a pure edge rusher. Active and heavy hands rushing on the interior. Impressive shake as a rusher for his size. Powerful side strikes as a rusher. Will use a swim move. Shows a spin move as a rusher. Impressive vision and feel to anticipate and track quarterbacks getting outside the pocket. Closes on the quarterback with control. Big with quick hands trying to deflect passes. Getting a hand on passes at the line of scrimmage or while pressuring the quarterback has resulted in multiple interceptions.

Weaknesses

Can get too upright and lose power. Pad level will get too high and cause him to get pushed back some. Gets too high in short-yardage situations. Will get jarred off balance. Sometimes goes down to a knee taking on blockers. Could be better keeping his feet with bodies on the ground around him. Want to see him be more agile working back to tackle inside when slanting towards the sideline. Limited acceleration to reach ball-carriers on outside runs. Limited impact as a rusher. Power needs to be unlocked rushing the quarterback and using the bull rush.

Conclusion

Overall, Collins is a big, nimble defensive lineman with heavy hands and excellent play recognition both versus the run and pass. He should be able to help anchor an NFL front and has untapped potential as a rusher if he can learn to play with more power.
