Strengths

Rare combination of size and athleticism. Well-built and athletic frame with long arms. Has plenty of twitch/explosiveness in his body. Freakish speed and acceleration for a defensive lineman. Excellent agility at the snap. Great overall change-of-direction skills. Inside-outside versatility. Mostly played the edge but has been used inside. Often lined up with two hands in the ground. Low and springy in a two-point stance. Tremendous burst at the snap. Very effective using a straight-arm to rush. Aggressive into blockers and will push the pocket inside. Flashed a hop-step move. Extremely quick when looping to the outside on stunts from the interior. Impressive flexibility and bend shown. Phenomenal closing burst. Will hit the quarterback with violence when he gets a shot at them. Wraps up with aggression. Can get in the backfield in a flash. Very quick hands with an ability to side step blocks at the snap. Will extend with both arms and push blockers back versus the run. Exceptional strength when he gets both hands on the chest/collar of opponents. Works to drive blockers back. Strong holding his spot on the edge. Very fast working down the line of scrimmage as a backside defender. Speed and athleticism to track ball-carriers down the field. Outstanding pursuit and speed chasing down throws to the perimeter. Athleticism shown on leaping stop to prevent a successful quarterback sneak at the goal line versus LSU (2024).

Weaknesses

Would like to see him capitalize on initial burst and fully unleash. Needs to develop rush counters and finishing moves as a rusher. Still learning how to get free at the top of the rush. Slow to disengage from power rushes to attack the quarterback. Should be better converting speed to power. Will lose balance on attempted speed rushes. Want to see him be more instinctive trying to make plays. Hands need to be more active and paired with his feet. Athleticism doesn’t show as much when he needs to be reactionary. Could be quicker diagnosing things and finding the ball. Will get stood up as a run defender. Lacks control to finish. Should blow up more plays than he did.

Conclusion

Overall, Stewart is a freakishly athletic defensive lineman with the potential to be extremely disruptive with a full-time transition inside. The landing spot will be crucial for him to cultivate his skillset whether it’s on the interior or remaining on the edge.
