Strengths

Prototype overall size and elite length for a guard. Phenomenal awareness and intelligence. Outstanding in pass protection. Extreme discipline with his technique as a pass blocker. Keeps a wide base. Moves his feet very well and stays balanced. Excellent hand placement and strength to stay attached in pass protection. Calm scanning for rushers as a pass blocker. Tremendous anchor strength versus powerful opponents. Strong when adjusting to pick up a stunt. Low in his stance and quick coming off the ball. Impressive effort to stay attached and finish blocks. Turns and seals defenders to create a rushing lane. Quick and very accurate on reach and redirect blocks. Terrific ability to attach on the second level. Excellent mobility on quick pulls. Great accuracy on outside pulls. Very good acceleration to lead the way in space. Outstanding field vision. Holds his blocks versus bigger defensive linemen. Quick reaction time extending to push a pursuing defender off their track. Exceptional upper body strength to push defenders out without his feet underneath him. Gets low on cut blocks in short-yardage situations. Showed versatility by playing left tackle due to injury during Ohio State’s 2024 championship run. Held up extremely well on the blindside despite being more natural at left guard. Challenged by and usually thrived versus top competition.

Weaknesses

Could have more consistent pop upon connecting on movement blocks. Will have some trouble latching on and miss in the running game at times. Would like to see him get his feet underneath him more rather than sometimes relying on reach. Had a couple of issues as a run blocker dealing with the size/power of Iowa defensive lineman Yahya Black (2024). Foot speed at tackle exposed by top pass rusher Abdul Carter (Penn State 2024).

Conclusion

Overall, Jackson is an intelligent, well-rounded offensive lineman with high-end ability both as a pass blocker and in the running game. Thriving at left tackle will only add value at the next level, but Jackson’s best fit is at guard where he has All-Pro potential.
