Strengths

Athletic build as a taller guard. Excellent fluidity at his size. Terrific overall athleticism. Gritty and competitive. Extremely strong hands. Powerful wipeout ability connecting versus aggressive defenders. Exceptional strength to connect and move/shove penetrating defenders off the spot. Very instinctive as a run blocker. Very efficient movement skills getting to his spot as a run blocker. Tremendous footwork and quickness in general at his size. Great hip fluidity to turn out in space. Controlled to the second level. Does an excellent job staying attached on the second level to help spring runs. Knows how to connect and seal on the outside. Latches on and will take down linebackers. Very good acceleration. Mobile on outside pulls. Quick off the ball in short-yardage situations. Outstanding vision and reaction time in pass protection. Tremendous quickness sliding his feet at the snap in pass protection. Hands are strong with very accurate reach as a pass blocker. Will combat and reset his hands as a pass blocker. Stays balanced and calmly attaches. Great anchor strength in pass protection. Good overall patience in pass protection. Showed outstanding toughness returning after ankle surgery in 2024 and playing at less than 100% (saw action as a part-time option for multiple games).

Weaknesses

Has some misses off the ball if he gets too eager to reach the second level. Gets too upright at times. Could be more forceful connecting on pulls. Will lower his eyes and miss early as a pass blocker. Could be more prepared to close off rushers splitting inside. Will lose some ground as a pass blocker when bigger defensive linemen slant between blocks. Underwent ankle surgery that ended his 2023 season and missed time following ankle surgery in 2024.

Conclusion

Overall, Ratledge is a gritty run blocker with impressive movement skills and is mostly excellent in pass protection. The injury history could be a concern, but the toughness and athleticism should get Ratledge drafted on Day 2.
