Strengths

Thick overall size and plus length. Excellent mobility and athleticism. Very quick feet into pass sets. Great mirror ability as a pass blocker. Outstanding technique in pass protection. Base remains balanced as he moves his feet. Keeps his hands in position to connect as a pass blocker. Accurate hand placement in pass protection. Tremendous stopping power and overall strength. Can stone an opponent and then move them back. Will power a rusher to the ground when he can. Quick reacting to close off inside moves. Smooth speeding up his feet to match rushers. Quick to rebalance after speeding up his footwork. Extremely quick off the ball and in general. Great acceleration. Terrific impact strength on down blocks. Keeps his balance and will drive opponents when he latches on. Impressive impact strength as the second blocker on double teams. Very controlled on second-level blocks around the hashes. Pushes opponents towards the sideline on outside runs. Will effectively get in the way if he can’t get around to make a block. Shows an edge to finish blocks at times. Experience on the left side of the formation for unbalanced lines.

 

Weaknesses

Stouter build for an offensive tackle. Too inconsistent connecting as a run blocker. Accuracy needs to go way up as a run blocker. Needs to sustain blocks better. Often seems to be standing around unattached as the tackle is being made. Opponents will get to his frame and push him off to shed. Want to see him turn and seal opponents as a backside blocker rather than just trying to shield them off. Can loose coordination a bit at the top of the rush. Lines up far back and might need to adjust to avoid illegal formation penalties in the NFL.

Conclusion

Overall, Membou is a quick, athletic offensive lineman with outstanding technique and mirror skills in pass protection. The concern is the strides he needs to make in the running game, but Membou projects to at least be a very reliable pass blocker.
