Strengths

Great feet and overall agility. Video-game quickness making cuts. Terrific speed and acceleration. Phenomenal juke move. Extremely instinctive with quick feet to make backfield penetrators miss. Can make multiple defenders in the backfield miss in succession. Quick and elusive in close quarters. Very decisive and tough inside runner. Tremendous burst through the hole. Knows how to get skinny through a crease. Great vision after breaking through the line of scrimmage. Decisive cutting off a lead blocker. Extremely quick shuffle cut. Quickness allows him to take advantage of cutback opportunities even if he sees it a tick late. Outstanding effort to keep his feet on the second level. Will spin and to keep going downhill. Excellent strength and packs a punch at his size to break tackles. Fast and physical into tacklers. Instantly accelerates after breaking a tackle. Able to evade low tackles getting out into the open field. Great pacing and accelerates off the back of his blockers on outside runs. Tremendous make-you-miss ability versus cornerbacks. Presses runs to the sideline to set up juke moves. Quick stiff arm. Physical and determined trying to reach the end zone. Very good goal-line runner for a smaller back. Soft hands in general. Used on quick screens lined up outside. Stays square and connects accurately in pass protection. Excellent vision to pick up outside rushers in pass protection. Great effort and effectiveness as a blocker in space. Missed games but showed toughness returning from a rib injury. Carried the Georgia offense in both wins over Texas with five combined touchdowns (2024). Showed significant improvement as a runner at Georgia.

Weaknesses

Could have more patience at times. Wants to just go based on quickness and decisiveness. Vision behind the line of scrimmage isn’t as good. Will miss a more obscure crease that doesn’t follow the play design. Good general ball security but had a lost a fumble in the red zone early in College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame (2024). Ran a simple route tree with mostly flare routes and checkdowns over the middle. Had some misses trying to bring in off-target passes. Inconsistent in pass protection up the middle (especially at Florida). Arrested in March of 2024 for DUI and other charges.

Conclusion

Overall, Etienne is an extremely quick runner with a great combination of instincts, burst, and decisiveness who also packs a punch. Increased involvement as a pass-catcher could increase his value for an NFL offense, and teams should be encouraged by Etienne showing major strides as a player after transferring to Georgia.
