Strengths

Excellent speed. Tremendous acceleration and agility. Solid build for a faster player. Exceptional release footwork and quick into his routes. Stacks cornerbacks on outside releases. Very smooth downfield route runner. Will lose defenders bursting out of vertical route breaks. Extremely effective deep double move. Outstanding on out-and-up double moves. Varies speed with deception making cuts on double moves. Able to throttle down and reaccelerate to quickly reach top speed. Quick cutting on deeper in-breaking routes. Terrific deceptiveness and burst on out-breaking routes. Very quick snapping off intermediate routes in general. Excellent feel for recognizing open space in coverage to know when he’ll come open. Fast working vertically from the slot. Reliable on deep crossing routes. Smooth and very efficient rounding off cuts as a route runner. Great feet to settle and reaccelerate underneath as a route runner. Quick to stop and turn on spot routes. Quick feet to separate on curl routes. Tracks and adjusts to the ball very well in the air. Exceptional body control to play the ball in the air for his size. Brings in the ball smoothly and securely on body catches. Calmly drags his feet along the sideline. Aligns all over out wide and in the slot. Very dangerous and agile with the ball in space. Able to take it the distance when he gets the edge. Targeted on quick screens and bubble screens. Used on designed touches. Great vision with the ball in his hands. Strong as a runner to break tackles. Shows some aggression when challenged as a blocker. On the receiving end of memorable game-winning touchdown in the Iron Bowl (2023).

Weaknesses

Could be more consistent bursting out of breaks for timing routes. Inconsistent footwork and timing coming out of breaks in general. Can be ridden more on inside releases. Loses control/balance as a route runner when contacted. Would like more focus to run every route at full speed (mostly when he knows the ball is going elsewhere). Could be more committed as a blocker to get in front of aggressive defenders. Needs to get his hands inside more as a blocker. Limited production at Texas and caught just two passes for 30 yards in three College Football Playoff games (2024). Accused of sexual assault and turned himself into authorities in April (currently disputing the allegations and is counter suing).

Conclusion

Overall, Bond is a very fast and agile wide receiver with deceptiveness as a downfield route runner and the ability to do damage with the ball in his hands. The lack of production for Texas might be a concern to some, but he should be a more dangerous weapon with more polish in an NFL passing attack.
