Strengths
Lightning quickness early into routes. Terrific overall release footwork and fluidity. Extremely quick and fluid sinking in and out of breaks. Manipulates defenders as a route runner with fluid hips. Able to dip his shoulder to avoid contact. Gets on top of cornerbacks before breaking off his route. Heavy usage in the slot. Knows how to settle between zones underneath. Very quick on out routes. Sudden separating from tight coverage. Tremendous quickness on pivot routes. Extremely fast and fluid making his break on crossing routes. Ideal speed and tempo stepping past defenders on deeper crossing routes. Creates easy separation on corner routes. Very smooth catching the ball and maintaining speed. Excellent game speed and gets down the field in a hurry on vertical routes. Draws attention on clearout routes from the slot. Terrific recognition of deep coverage. Can stack cornerbacks running downfield routes from the perimeter. Tracks the deep ball very well. Able to make catches in tight coverage down the field. Targeted in the flat after going in motion. Used on a bunch of bubble screens and quick screens. Given designed touches on pop passes. Experience running routes out of the backfield. Tremendous feel and awareness immediately after the catch. Very elusive with the ball in his hands. Great acceleration to capture the sideline as a runner. Impressive strength at his size. Very good technique as a blocker and works to position himself in front of opponents. Gives effort and tries to get in the way as a blocker in space. Extremely high character. Showed outstanding effort trying to chase down a UCLA defender the length of the field on a pick-six (2024).
Weaknesses
Very undersized with durability concerns at his weight. Will get bumped around based on his size. Knocked off the tracks early by jams. Can struggle to create separation when defenders use physicality at the top of routes. Had some double catches and grabs that weren’t clean. Inconsistent bringing in passes when he gets his head around late.

Conclusion
Overall, Johnson is a lightning quick receiver with deceptiveness, polish, and fluidity running routes to pair with high character. Durability is the major concern at his size, but Johnson can be an electric weapon who primarily works out of the slot.
