Strengths

Very solid build. Tremendous strength. Excellent play recognition and instincts. Impressive fluidity pursuing in the backfield at his size. Crashes flat and with aggression tackling as the backside defender. Successfully lays out to make tackles tracking from behind. Very patient and breaks down with great technique while reading things out on the backside. Quick crossing the face of opponents to disrupt runs. Wraps up effectively around the line of scrimmage. Tough for ball-carriers to get away from when in range for a tackle. Outstanding strength defending runs inside. Prepared to take on lead blockers on the edge. Powerful getting to the frame of offensive tackles setting the edge. Keeps outside contain stringing out plays to the sideline. Positions himself for tackles on the second level as the backside defender. Athletic making tackles in space at his size. Impressive change-of-direction skills opening up to pursue towards the sideline and/or downfield after a rush. Very good speed at his size. Strong and relentless getting through blockers as a rusher. Extends and pushes blockers on their heels as a rusher. Generates initial pushback on power rushes. Very powerful straight arm at the top of rushes. Wins on the speed rush with a good jump. Shows he can time the snap both on the edge and inside. Swipes at the reach of opponents on the speed rush. Light feet while making a jump stab move. Highly impressive agility to turn the corner at his size. Uses a rip more around the corner. Hits the quarterback with force. Will press blockers with an inside or outside start and show fluidity winning on the opposite shoulder. Effective spin move as a rusher. Impressive quickness at his size on stunts. Very quick rushing inside when shaded as a five-technique. Saw snaps as a three-technique. Intelligent to recognize and get in the passing lane on designed throws in the flat. Experience with short zone drops. Terrific awareness and moves his feet well in coverage. Closed out the win over Notre Dame with back-to-back pressures from the edge and interior (2025). Extremely disruptive in the College Football Playoff win over Texas A&M (2025).

Weaknesses

Blockers contact him and slow his feet down as a rusher. Neutralized by seemingly every cut block. Lacks coordination at times. Inconsistent burst off the ball as a rusher. Gives high effort but can still fail to generate push as a rusher when blockers get to his frame. Limited explosiveness to unleash as a rusher. Lacks suddenness in terms of quickness as a finisher versus more mobile quarterbacks. Could be better disengaging to make tackles when setting the edge. Would like to see a more solid base and better technique to stay square defending the run on the interior.

Conclusion

Overall, Mesidor is a high-effort defender who makes plays versus the run and shows both power and natural skill as a rusher. Becoming more consistent pressuring the quarterback when he doesn’t get a great jump can allow him to take his game to another level.
