Strengths

Ideal size and length. Reliable wrapping up ball-carriers around the line of scrimmage. Quick and controlled through open gaps into the backfield defending the run. Very effective getting in on tackles inside when kept clean. Helps plug things up on inside runs. Aggressive pursuing to tackle. Does an excellent job strafing through traffic to position himself for tackles on outside runs. Great ability to stop and wrap up defending runs to the edge. Gets away from blocks and stands in to make wrap-up tackles. Very effective side stepping blockers. Will brush off wide receivers trying to block him in space. Has shown he will lay out receivers trying to block him. Terrific pursuit speed in pursuit towards the sideline and downfield. Very good acceleration. Impressive burst into the backfield on run blitzes. Quick shooting gaps near the goal line. Very strong and forceful punching at the ball. Great reaction time on perimeter screens. Excellent awareness and feel in coverage. Jumps on running backs out of the backfield in man coverage. Aggressive getting on running backs to prevent easy completions. Instantly gets on top of running backs in the flat. Quick feet covering out routes and will shade himself underneath tight ends. Purposeful with his movements in zone coverage. Good fluidity turning his hips in coverage. Athletic running deep down the field in Tampa 2 drops. Outstanding instincts reading the quarterback. Tremendous ball skills. Fast blitzing lined up over the A-gap. Experience looping as a blitzer. Very effective blitzing up the middle in heavy pressure looks. Has been used to rush off the edge. Shows dip and bend as a rusher. Impressive change-of-direction skills to pursue the quarterback.

Weaknesses

Sometimes fills incorrectly defending the run and leaves a lane open. Could be more instinctive between the tackles. Would like to see him be more forceful taking on lead blockers in the hole. Would like to see more focus on trying to make a tackle on runs with a pulling lead blocker. Average power bringing down ball-carriers and will sometimes take a few steps get them to the ground. Can get knocked down when blockers get to his frame. Can be better disengaging when opponents latch on. Pushed back some if not prepared for blocks. Could break down with more accuracy to tackle towards the sideline. Didn’t give initial all-out effort when he could have made a tackle early on a long catch-and-run touchdown by Mississippi State (2025). Had series when he was off the field.

Conclusion

Overall, Hill is a well-rounded linebacker who knows how to shoot gaps defending the run and covers at a high level. His best fit would be in an aggressive, blitz-heavy defense to take advantage of his complete skillset.
