Extremely instinctive. High-end intelligence and play recognition. Terrific overall reaction time and first-step quickness. Great vision to see past blockers and position himself to tackle. Outstanding feel to fit versus the run. Knows how to play team run defense. Keeps leverage and contain. Patient but decisive. Excellent wrap-up tackler. Tremendous stopping power as a tackler. Rolls his hips into contact. Quick to shed and make a tackle working downhill. Very reliable when tackling ball-carriers head on. Physical taking on blockers. Average overall size. A bit less effective in defending outside runs. Has slight stiffness opening up fully into a sprint in pursuit towards the sideline. Can get absorbed by bigger blockers. Has more trouble getting off blocks when stationary and/or opponents latch on.

Overall, Allen is an extremely instinctive linebacker with high-end intelligence, reaction time, and tackling ability. He should be a Day 1 impact starter with the speed and effort to match his feel and technique at the position.
