Strengths

Prototype size. Stands tall in the pocket with a power arm. Smooth release. Easily makes throws to the sideline from the opposite hash. Great arm strength to deliver strikes on stop routes. Experience with play-action shots from under center. Will hit the defense over the top with a designed shot. Tremendous downfield accuracy with a clean pocket on a deep shot. Ideal touch when dialing up the deep ball. Outstanding ball placement over the outside shoulder down the sideline. Very encouraging accuracy hitting the backside in-breaking route working through his progression. Confident throwing a strike at the intermediate level down the seam with defenders running underneath. Shows touch on deeper out-breaking routes. Ideal ball placement low and away along the sideline. Excellent feel for attacking with a late wheel route on route combinations. Will pull back targets on the perimeter for back-shoulder passes with coverage over the top. Good accuracy and feel attacking horizontally on crossing routes and drag routes. Accurate hitting the tight end as the initial read on stop routes. Quick release and consistent accuracy in the quick-strike passing game and on screens. Accurate with arc getting underneath passes over defenders. Good touch on short wheel and curled flare routes. Accurate on slants from the slot. Able to fit throws between the slot defender and safety deeper down the middle. Effectively uses a pump fake. Shows he can lower his arm angle to throw around pressure. Keeps his eyes downfield when escaping the pocket. Able to take heat off to layer a throw over a defender when rolling out. Can whip a throw across his body on the move. Shows natural accuracy when throwing off platform to a target he sees open. Will successfully get the ball to a spot with what appears to be a wild throw when pressured. Very strong to keep his feet and get the ball out to avoid a sack. Outstanding overall mobility at his size. Impressive ability to sense a lane opening up and will take it. Very good vision as a scrambler and runner. Picks up speed when he gets going in space. Used on zone reads and quarterback draws. Did his best to take over as a runner late in a comeback attempt versus UCLA (2025).

Weaknesses

Ball placement is left inside too often on throws to the perimeter. Lacks field vision later in the progression and will miss targets coming open down the field. Guesses that a throw will come open and completely points everything at one side of the field and prevents himself from easily scanning the opposite side. Doesn’t effectively work through full-field progressions in general. Will decline an open target on simple route combinations. Seems to pat the ball too much and needs to see his target open rather than anticipating. Will make a throw without really seeing it as he advances through progressions. Shaky field vision throwing under pressure. Doesn’t take enough downfield shots when a receiver has a step. Has too many inaccurate throws from a clean pocket. Not convincing using his eyes to manipulate coverage. Needs to make better decisions in terms of giving his guys a chance in one-on-one coverage. Could be more willing to take a hole shot down the sideline versus zone coverage. Will aim the ball on underneath throws rolling to his left. Doesn’t anticipate or see enough downfield opportunities as a scrambler. Abandons his mechanics and rushes with an inaccurate throw when pressured. Could try to stay in the pocket by sliding when facing pressure instead of turning into a runner. Would like to see him get to the checkdown more often. Lacks elusiveness versus better defenders. Suffered a broken ankle in October of 2025 that ended his college career.

Conclusion

Overall, Allar is a throwback quarterback with a power arm who would best fit in a heavy play-action attack with downfield shots. He clearly needs to develop his game and build up his confidence, but Allar is worth taking as a borderline Day 2/3 selection.
