Strengths
Outstanding natural athleticism and leaping ability. Tremendous body control to sky for downfield passes. Seems to hang in the air on his jumps. Terrific catch focus and body control on high points. Makes grabs with defenders on his back. Ideal height and length. Very nimble for a bigger receiver. Excellent shake at the top of routes. Smooth and deceptive at the top of routes. Sudden feet at his size. Will give a deceptive inside plant before breaking on corner routes. Outstanding acceleration at his size. Fast and fluid on downfield cuts and double moves. Slick footwork crossing over at the top of vertical routes. Ideal speed and pacing on in-breaking routes. Deceptive to create space on slants. Extremely smooth running through the ball catching across the middle. Great concentration at the catch point. Strong hands to catch throws on his back hip. Impressive ability to dive for body catches working horizontally. Works routes back underneath defenders towards open space through zone coverage. Tremendous spatial awareness. Great outside release to get vertical. Very good speed with a gliding style. Able to run past defenders to get deep. Phenomenal ability to track the ball in the air. Catches the go ball without breaking stride. Very confident working nearing the sideline to get his feet down. Excellent on speed outs near at goal line. Impressive fluidity on pivot routes in scoring territory. Crisp on out routes from the slot. Able to get vertical from the slot. Used on screen passes in the slot. Works back to the football and steers himself for run-after-catch opportunities. Flashes slippery ability with the ball in his hands. Used on jet sweeps and end arounds. Played through a hamstring injury suffered during win over Texas Tech (2025).
Weaknesses
Has difficulty getting in and out of breaks versus physical coverage. Can get derailed by jams. Could be stronger fighting through early contact as a route runner. Could be disrupted by contact and physicality in general. Hands are less reliable when extending out in front. Didn’t have a ton of run-after-catch production. Extremely inconsistent in terms of commitment and technique as a blocker. Would like to see him attach and be more accurate as a blocker. Blocking often done with shoves from a distance rather than keeping his feet underneath and engaging. Want to see better positioning with his back to the ball as a blocker. Might need to be motivated to block (helped spring a long run following a big catch versus Mississippi State in 2025). Notable injury history with a serious knee injury, broken collarbone, and hamstring issues.

Conclusion
Overall, Tyson is a talented wide receiver with exceptional body control, athleticism, and fluidity as a route runner. He needs to be better playing through contact and as a blocker, but Tyson has clear No. 1 receiver ability.
