One year after announcing his retirement before returning to play in 2022, legendary quarterback Tom Brady has announced his retirement from the NFL “for good” after 23 epic seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Truly grateful on this day. Thank you 🙏🏻❤️ pic.twitter.com/j2s2sezvSS

As Brady says in his retirement announcement video, he already had the emotional retirement last year before coming back to play his 23rd and final season with the Bucs. Brady’s accomplishments are well documented. He’s the NFL’s all-time leader in wins, yardage, and touchdowns (both regular and postseason). He’s one of two starting quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl with two franchises. And he is the ultimate champion in team sports, with an astonishing seven Super Bowls (six with the Patriots, one in his first season with the Buccaneers).
Brady’s 20-year run with Bill Belichick in New England was an extremely rare stretch that feels unlikely to ever be matched. Part of what made Brady so great is that when games were close—particularly Super Bowl games—it felt automatic that he would lead his team down the field for a win. Brady led a fourth-quarter game-winning drive in each of his six Super Bowl victories with the Patriots before coasting to victory in his title with the Bucs. He also led one of two unbeaten regular seasons in NFL history with the 2007 Patriots. And the 28-3 comeback in Super Bowl LI was perhaps the greatest comeback in the history of sports.
Brady has a huge deal with FOX Sports to put him in the broadcast booth that was set to kick in upon his retirement. So football fans will be hearing a lot from Brady in the coming years.
We wish the best to the greatest as he moves past his on-field career.
