Top Potential Landing Spots for Brian Robinson Jr.

With the Commanders are reportedly shopping Brian Robinson Jr., there are a few landing spots that make sense—even this late into the summer. Below are our top five destinations for the former third-round pick.

5. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins lost Alexander Mattison (neck) for the season as a potential bruising complement to De’Von Achane, and Jaylen Wright has failed to separate himself as the No. 2 back this summer. Robinson had eight rushing touchdowns in 14 games last season and could solve the short-yardage issues in Miami while also providing insurance behind Achane to make sure the team takes full advantage of what Mike McDaniel can do schematically in the running game.

4. Cleveland Browns

Cleveland spent a second-round pick on Quinshon Judkins (who still hasn’t signed his contract after recently being cleared of a domestic dispute) and fourth-round pick on Dylan Sampson in the spring, but the formula seems clear for them to fight their way into contending: get the running game going and rely on their defense. Robinson would be a tone-setter and give the Browns three tough options between the tackles to play the brand of football they want to in 2025.

3. New Orleans Saints

Kendre Miller has shown a knack for breaking tackles both this month in preseason action and taking back to his college days—but he’s only appeared in 14 games through two NFL seasons and has rushed 12 times for 36 yards (3.0 YPC) through two exhibitions. If the Saints want a reliable upgrade behind Alvin Kamara, Robinson makes a ton of sense, and he can also catch the ball better than given credit for (36/368/4 line in 2023).

2. Chicago Bears

The final two teams make the most sense for Robinson, and he’d be a great hammer for Ben Johnson’s offense—with a boost similar to when David Montgomery joined the Lions being very possible. Right now, Chicago has Kyle Monangai and Roschon Johnson as the early-down complements for D’Andre Swift, and last night’s preseason game was started by Deion Hankins with those three all out of action.

1. Dallas Cowboys

Washington doesn’t mind making trades in the division and the Cowboys aren’t afraid to make a trade in general, so Dallas might be the most likely destination for Robinson—and the best for him with the clearest path to playing time. For both this season and beyond, the combination of Robinson and Jaydon Blue would provide a nice blend of power and speed, and the Cowboys would be a much more complete offense if they make a move for the 26-year-old back.
