YouTube Video: 2025 Quarterback Rankings of the NFL’s Top Franchise Players

What if there was a redraft of the entire NFL in 2025? If building a team from scratch, who would you want to construct the roster around? In other words, who are the NFL’s top franchise players in 2025? Naturally, quarterbacks make up the top 10 as the most important position in sports.

This week’s YouTube video from Wolf Sports ranks the NFL’s franchise quarterbacks for 2025—starting with honorable mentions like 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, and ending with Bills quarterback Josh Allen at No. 1.

Honorable Mentions

Purdy, Bryce Young, and C.J. Stroud were among those getting strong consideration—but Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was the first to miss the top 10. Initially, Caleb was in there for the article earlier this offseason, but another second-year quarterback got the nod in this video.

Quarterbacks #10-#7

Toward the back half of the rankings are Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, Lions quarterback Jared Goff, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. Daniels just won Offensive Rookie of the Year with a phenomenal rookie campaign. Goff’s game should be sustainable long-term as a pocket passer like we saw with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. Lawrence has an A+ blend of experience and age. And Herbert has the tools to be a top-shelf championship quarterback.

The Most Controversial Ranking

But knocking on the door of the top five, Bo Nix is certainly the most controversial ranking among the NFL’s franchise building blocks. But should he be? If the mainstream narrative about his talent level wasn’t way off in the pre-draft process and during his rookie season, he might be getting looked at much differently after recording the third-most touchdowns for a rookie in NFL history for a team projected to win 4.5 games.

The Top Five

It should come as no surprise that the top five franchise quarterbacks are guys who have performed year after year: Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and Bills quarterback Josh Allen. The full video dives into the reasoning for how they’re stacked up, but it’s difficult to debate who makes the top five—even if the order can vary.
