WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Alex Tanney | Retired QB

Alex Tanney has retired from the NFL.

After going undrafted in 2012, Tanney did very well to stick around for nine seasons in the league as a member of the Chiefs, Cowboys, Browns, Buccaneers, Titans, Bills, Colts, and Giants. He appeared in just two career games, but he threw a touchdown for Tennessee back in 2015, which he'll always remember. Tanney was also well known for a viral trick shot video during his time in college at Monmouth. We wish Tanney luck as he moves past his playing career.

The Giants have picked up Alex Tanney's option.

Tanney will be back in 2020 as he looks to compete for the backup job behind Daniel Jones. The Giants might also bring in another veteran quarterback with more playing experience behind Jones, though.

Alex Tanney | Retired QB

The Giants waived Alex Tanney.

The Giants needed roster space to promote running back Austin Walter from the practice squad for tonight's game in Foxboro. Tanney is probably a good bet to return to the Giants at some point soon if another team doesn't pick him up.

Alex Tanney | Retired QB

The Giants have re-signed quarterback Alex Tanney.

Tanney hasn't appeared in a regular season game since the 2015 season with Tennessee, but New York signed the veteran last season as depth behind Eli Manning, and he ended up winning the No. 2 job over fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta. It's certainly possible Tanney opens 2019 as the backup to Manning if the Giants don't address the position in April's draft.
