WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Austin Davis | Retired QB

Austin Davis has joined the Seahawks coaching staff.

Davis is joining Seattle's staff as an offensive assistant, so it appears that the 29-year-old quarterback has retired as a player. The Southern Mississippi product went undrafted in 2012 and worked his way into one of the league's better backup quarterbacks, making ten starts in his career and throwing 13 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. Davis spent 2017 and part of 2018 with Seattle, so he's in a familiar spot. We wish him luck as he starts his coaching career.

The Titans cut Austin Davis, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Davis spent time with Tennessee as Marcus Mariota dealt with multiple elbow/neck issues during the season, so there's a chance he returns at some point this offseason. If not, other teams should be interested in the 29-year-old quarterback.

The Titans signed quarterback Austin Davis.

Davis was with the Titans earlier this season and he’s back with Marcus Mariota dealing with a stinger. This is precautionary more than anything right now, but there is definitely some doubt about Mariota’s Week 17 status. Obviously football fans should be hoping Mariota can get out there in a de facto playoff game this Sunday night.

The Titans are signing Austin Davis, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

With Blaine Gabbert in concussion protocol and Marcus Mariota still not 100% while dealing with his right elbow injury, Davis helps give the Titans more peace of mind at the quarterback position. If Gabbert is out for Week 4 and Mariota still cannot make every throw, there's a chance Davis could immediately get some time for the Titans. But he'll have some catching up to do as he learns the offense. He's obviously not on the fantasy radar.

The Seahawks placed Austin Davis on injured reserve.

It's unclear what injury Davis is dealing with, but perhaps an injury settlement will be reached that would allow him to sign with another team. Brett Hundley is going to be Russell Wilson's backup this season.

The Seahawks re-signed quarterback Austin Davis.

Davis impressed in the preseason last year and was Russell Wilson's backup during the season. The 28-year-old quarterback has played well when given opportunities, and he's one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league. After adding Stephen Morris last week, Seattle's quarterback room is now filling up. They could also still add another quarterback in next week's draft.

The Seahawks have signed Austin Davis.

Davis will compete with Trevone Boykin for the backup quarterback job behind Russell Wilson. The former undrafted free agent has started 10 games since entering the league in 2012, completing 62.4% of his passes for 2,548 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 inteceptions with the Rams and Browns. Davis actually has a victory over Pete Carroll's Seahawks, when he led the Rams to a win over Seattle in 2014. Barring an injury, this signing likely shuts the door on Colin Kaepernick joining the Seahawks, which says all that needs to be said about his NFL future.
