WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Branden Oliver | Free Agent RB

The Colts signed running back Branden Oliver.

Indianapolis had a roster spot with Deon Cain (knee) being placed on injured reserve. With Marlon Mack (hamstring) week-to-week, Oliver will look to take advantage of some reps and make the final roster for the Colts. Oliver is another removed from his August 2016 Achilles injury, so the former Chargers running back could show enough explosiveness to work his way into the mix. He's off the fantasy radar at the moment, though.

Branden Oliver gets eight touches in Week 17.

Oliver gained 13 rushing yards on seven attempts and added a six-yard reception. Philip Rivers and the Chargers have been high on Oliver, who was coming off a torn Achilles from 2016. He should be better further removed from the injury.

Branden Oliver can't get much going in Week 16.

Oliver didn't find much room to run while mixing in behind Melvin Gordon against the Jets, carrying eight times for nine yards. Oliver would enter starting consideration if Gordon's ankle injury keeps him out for Week 17, but we expect Gordon to play.

Branden Oliver gets three carries in Week 8.

Oliver gained three yards on his three attempts, as he got some short-yardage work against the Patriots. We'll see if he gets some goal line touches if they get chances there in the coming games, but Oliver isn't a fantasy option right now.

Branden Oliver gets three touches in Week 4.

Oliver two carries for one yard and one reception for two yards. He'll only be a recommended fantasy option if Melvin Gordon were to miss time.

Branden Oliver gets 12 touches in Week 3.

With Melvin Gordon (knee) in an out of the game, Oliver received a little more work than usual, carrying eight times for 16 yards and catching four passes for 18 yards through the air. Oliver will only be a fantasy option if Gordon was forced to miss time.

Branden Oliver rushed three times for 31 yards in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.

Oliver gained most of his yardage on a nice 26-yard run, but he's only going to see a handful of touches each week with Melvin Gordon ahead of him. He can probably stay on the waiver wire.

Branden Oliver doesn't get much going in Week 2 of the preseason.

Oliver had seven carries for only ten yards against the Saints. The team had barely two yards per carry in the game, so Oliver wasn't the only on that didn't do much. Oliver is currently the preferred handcuff to Melvin Gordon.

Brandon Oliver rushed three times for seven yards and caught a 14-yard screen pass in Sunday night's preseason game.

Oliver looked good in the opener, particularly on the catch and run with the first-team offense. Melvin Gordon will be the workhorse for Los Angeles, but Oliver should have a role as a COP back for Anthony Lynn. He might be worth a look in PPR leagues.

Chargers running back Branden Oliver is "turning heads" at OTAs.

Oliver tore his Achilles in Week 3 of the preseason last year, but by all accounts, he's looking great in his return. Quarterback Philip Rivers says you wouldn't think Oliver hasn't played since 2015 if you watched him out there. Rivers also said Oliver can be "a heck of a changeup for us." Kenjon Barner is also in the mix, but Oliver might turn out to be the primary backup behind workhorse Melvin Gordon.

The LA Chargers announced that they have re-signed running back Branden Oliver.

Oliver missed all of last season with an Achilles injury, but spent 2014 and 2015 with the Chargers in a backup role. He will likely compete with recent signee Kenjon Barner for the main backup behind Melvin Gordon.
