Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Raiders are signing Brandon Bolden.

Bolden will fill in as depth behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake, and he'll also provide big-time special teams value. He'll join former New England teammate Chandler Jones in New England playing under Josh McDaniels.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Multiple reports: Brandon Bolden is planning to opt out of the 2020 season.

Bolden will be the fifth Patriots player to opt out of the year due to COVID-19. The versatile running back is an excellent special-teams contributor for New England, but his decision doesn't have a huge fantasy impact. Bolden's contract will toll over.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Week 2.

Bolden is a special teams ace for New England, so his loss is a notable one for them in real life. From a fantasy perspective, this could lead to third-round rookie Damien Harris being active on Sunday after he was not active in Week 1.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots are signing Brandon Bolden, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It's a two-year deal according to Rapoport. Bolden spent last year in Miami with the AFC East rival Dolphins, but he spent his first six NFL season in New England. Bill Belichick and the coaching staff has a ton of respect for Bolden being a team player that makes major contributions on special teams, and the former Ole Miss running back also did a good job contributing on offense when given opportunities—not excluding last year with the Dolphins, when he had 91 yards on just eight attempts, including a 54-yard touchdown run against his former team. Bolden is a much better real-life contributor than fantasy asset at the moment, but this is a strong signing by the Patriots. It'll become official when the new league year begins at 4:00 PM ET.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden handles one touch in Week 17 loss.

It was a nine-yard reception. In his first year with the Dolphins, the star special teamer saw all his touches in December, rushing eight times for 91 yards and two touchdowns with three receptions for 13 yards and a score through the air. Bolden, who turns 29 next month, shouldn't trouble to find a home (or return to Miami) as he enters unrestricted free agency.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden finds the end zone in loss to the Jaguars.

Bolden rushed four times for nine yards, also adding a four-yard receiving touchdown on the game's opening possession. The play was a well-designed shovel pass, but the offense unfortunately ended there for Miami as their playoff hopes were dashed. Bolden will get some opportunities next week, but he's not a recommended fantasy option.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden gets one carry in Week 15.

Bolden gained 12 yards on his lone attempt against the Vikings. He wasn't given opportunities to build on his two-touchdown performance last week, as it was Kalen Ballage that led the backfield after Frank Gore left the game with an ankle injury. Bolden doesn't need to be on fantasy rosters.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden scores twice against the Patriots.

Bolden had two carries against his former team, but he made them count with touchdown runs of 54 yards and 6 yards. The first score was the 54-yarder where he received exceptional blocking and showed his good speed while going untouched to the end zone. Overall, he had two carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns and one reception for no yards. Bolden is mostly a great special-teams contributor, so it was good to see him take advantage of his opportunities on offense.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden gets one carry in Week 13.

Bolden gained ten yards on his lone attempt against the Bills. This was Bolden's first rushing attempt as a Dolphin, as he's mostly a key special-teams contributor. The former Patriot can contribute when called upon on offense, but his role isn't big enough to deliver fantasy value. He faces his former Patriots team next week.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Dolphins are signing Brandon Bolden, according to multiple reports.

Bolden spent his first six NFL seasons in New England as one of their best special teams players and a solid contributor on offense when called upon, but he's signing with a division rival. Bolden is not a fantasy option right now, but he'll be a good locker-room presence and a big-time special-teams contributor for Miami.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots have released Brandon Bolden.

Bolden was also released last year on cut day before being re-signed, and the same could happen this year. Bolden is one of the better special team contributors in the league.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden has been placed on the non-football illness list, according to Field Yates.

Bolden can be removed from the list at any time, so hopefully this is just a short-term issue to start camp. The 28-year-old should once again be a core special teamer that will be able to perform at running back if the team needs him to. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots are signing Brandon Bolden to a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Bolden has spend his entire six years in the NFL with New England, and he is a superb special teams player for them and fits the "Do Your Job" mantra of the Patriots. If the Pats call on him to chip in on offense, he's shown the ability to do a great job there through the years, too. We'll see how the running back position shakes out this offseason, but Bolden isn't likely to be a fantasy asset in 2018 despite his real-life contributions to the team.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden finds the end zone in playoff win over the Titans.

Bolden rushed four times for 27 yards and a touchdown in the 35-14 victory. With Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee out of the lineup, Bolden saw some offensive snaps and took advantage. Whether or not Burkhead and/or Gillislee return for the AFC Championship, Bolden's biggest impact will likely be on special teams next Sunday.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden gets work on offense in Week 17.

With all of Rex Burkhead (knee), James White (ankle), and Mike Gillislee (knee) out, Bolden worked behind Dion Lewis in the backfield for the Pats. Bolden had nine carries for 46 rushing yards along with one reception for seven yards. He'll be a key contributor on special teams for New England the postseason.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden gets two touches against the Broncos.

With Mike Gillislee inactive and the Patriots destroying Denver, Bolden—who’s been a contributor on offense in the past and continues to be a huge contributor on special teams—carried twice for one yard. Comically, Tom Brady was yelling from the sideline to help out his buddy Brandon and tell him to get down so the clock would continue running. Again, Bolden is a big-time contributor in real-life to the Patriots, but he’s not a recommended fantasy option.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots re-signed running back Brandon Bolden.

New England cut Bolden to get the roster down to 53, but they wanted to bring him back all along. Because no one claimed Bolden, the team was able to re-sign him while putting linebacker Shea McClellin on Injured Reserve. Bolden likely won't have fantasy value in 2017, but he'll be a contributor to the Patriots in real life; he's a great teammate and team player that will look to contribute to another Super Bowl run.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots released RB Brandon Bolden, according to Field Yates.

Bolden was likely on the very edge of making the Patriots roster, as he is a guy that can contribute on both offense and special teams. Bolden was undrafted out of Ole Miss in 2012 and spent all five of his seasons in New England. According to reports, the team wants to find a way to bring Bolden back, which isn't surprising. We'll likely hear about Bolden in the coming days, whether it's him returning to New England or otherwise.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden carries eight times for 33 yards in Week 2 of the preseason.

Bolden's long in the exhibition against Houston was of 13 yards. While Bolden can contribute on offense, his special teams ability is likely what will keep him on the team. The Pats could keep upwards of five running backs on their 53-man roster.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

Brandon Bolden plays well in preseason game versus Jacksonville.

Bolden had five carries for 33 yards and two receptions for 24 yards, including both a 24-yard run and a 20-yard reception. The Pats are stacked at running back, but Bolden shouldn't be counted out. He's been a contributor in the past and this is his sixth year with the team.

Brandon Bolden | Raiders RB

The Patriots re-signed running back Brandon Bolden.

While he probably won't be a fantasy option in 2017, Bolden is a very good special teams player for New England and can also pitch in on offense. He'll be entering his sixth season with the team after he went undrafted in 2012.
