WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Brett Rypien | Broncos QB

The Broncos are elevating Brett Rypien to the active roster.

Rypien will slide in behind Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock on the 53-man roster. With Denver sitting at 3-0, it will be interesting to see if they potentially find a trade partner for Lock at some point over the next month.

Brett Rypien | Broncos QB

Brett Rypien is expected to start on Thursday night, according to NFL Network's James Palmer.

As a 2019 undrafted free agent, it's pretty cool that he'll now be starting in his second season in the league. Rypien is the nephew of former Redskins Super Bowl winning quarterback Mark Rypien, and he'll make his first career NFL start in primetime to kickoff Week 4. Jeff Driskel may still get playing time along with Rypien, and neither is a highly recommended fantasy option.

The Broncos waived Brett Rypien.

Rypien is being waived to make room for second-round pick Drew Lock to be officially activated from injured reserve. The undrafted rookie quarterback will almost certainly land back with Denver on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Broncos are promoting Brett Rypien to the active roster.

Joe Flacco (neck) was placed on injured reserve, so Denver is calling up the rookie to serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Brandon Allen. Rypien may end up back on the practice squad when Drew Lock (thumb) is healthy enough to play.

The Broncos are signing Brett Rypien to the practice squad.

After Denver claimed Brandon Allen off waivers to back up Joe Flacco, the team is now has four quarterbacks in the building (Flacco, Allen, Drew Lock, and Rypien). Rypien will look to continue making a good impression on the practice squad.

The Broncos have released Brett Rypien.

Rypien is a candidate for the practice squad, and Denver currently only has Drew Lock on the active roster behind Joe Flacco. The team will certainly add a backup with Lock (thumb) injured, though.

Brett Rypien | Broncos QB

The Broncos are signing Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien as an undrafted free agent.

The name might sound familiar, as Rypien is the nephew of former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien. The four-year starter at Boise State threw 90 touchdown in his college career, with his best season coming as a senior when he completed 67.3% of his passes for 3,705 yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He'll look to work his way into a roster spot as the No. 3 quarterback in Denver to start his career.
