WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Patriots have released Bruce Ellington.

Ellington was signed by New England on March 14, but New England is already moving on. There's a chance the Patriots bring Ellington back at some point this spring or summer, but other teams should be interested in signing the 27-year-old if not.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Patriots are signing Bruce Ellington, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Ellington has spent time in San Francisco with Chip Kelly (a friend of Bill Belihick's) then spent time under former Belichick assistant's Bill O'Brien and Matt Patricia the last two seasons in Houston and Detroit, so the Patriots probably have a good idea of how he'll be used. It's possible Ellington, who had 23 receptions in just four games with the Lions last season, has a big role for New England in 2019, as injuries have really been his only issue throughout his career. This feels like a really good fit, and Ellington could deliver some solid fantasy value this season depending on how the wide receiver depth chart looks for the Patriots.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Lions have released Bruce Ellington.

Ellington, who spent time in both Houston and Detroit last year, averaged just 5.7 yards per reception on 23 grabs with the Lions, and they will now look for an upgrade between Kenny Gollday and Marvin Jones via free agency, trade, or the draft. Not turning 28 until August, Ellington will almost certainly get an opportunity to make a roster this summer, but he's off the fantasy radar right now.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington (hamstring) is officially out for Sunday.

Consider Ellington week-to-week with his hamstring injury. This probably means more targets for Kenny Golladay against the Bills, but Golladay will have to contend with shutdown second-year cornerback Tre'Davious White.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington caught four passes for 17 yards before leaving Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.

Ellington left the game in the second quarter, but he at least brought in all four of his targets for PPR owners that rolled with him in deeper leagues. If the veteran gets cleared for next week, he won't be a strong play in Buffalo.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington sees ten targets in Week 13 loss.

Ellington caught seven passes for 35 yards, and he also threw one pass, which was incomplete. The veteran slot receiver should be a significant factor in PPR leagues the rest of the way, but he doesn't warrant enough upside to strongly consider outside of deeper standard leagues. The Lions take on the Cardinals next Sunday.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington catches six passes in Week 12.

Ellington gained 28 yards on his six receptions, working as an underneath target for Matthew Stafford throughout the game. He also had one carry for two yards. The veteran receiver is a deep-league PPR FLEX option at the moment, especially if Marvin Jones (knee) remains out moving forward.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington catches six passes in Lions debut.

Ellington gained 52 yards on his six receptions against the Panthers. The veteran receiver has a knack for making immediate impacts with his new teams, and his debut for the Lions was no different. Ellington has entered the FLEX mix for deep PPR leagues, but next week against the Bears is a tough matchup.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Lions are signing Bruce Ellington, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Ellington was with the Texans earlier this season but was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and was then released from injured reserve last week. Ellington played well with the Texans last season, and he'll look to step into Detroit and make a similar impact in 2018. He's not a recommended fantasy pickup yet, though.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Texans are releasing Bruce Ellington from injured reserve.

Ellington was placed on IR with a hamstring injury in late September, but he's now healthy and ready to contribute to a team. The Titans, a division rival of the Texans, are a team that stands out as a potential landing spot for Ellington. He's not a recommended fantasy pickup at least until he signs with a team.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Texans placed Bruce Ellington (hamstring) on injured reserve.

Ellington suffered a hamstring injury in Houston's loss against the Giants, and it's serious enough that the team is placing him on IR. Ellington will now miss at least eight weeks, and his season could be over. This puts more on the plates of DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, and the team will look to rookie Keke Coutee to get healthy and make an impact for them. Ellington can be dropped from all fantasy leagues.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington (hamstring) did not return against the Giants.

Ellington suffered a hamstring injury early in the game, and he had one catch for ten yards before leaving. Hopefully his hamstring injury isn't too bad so he can get back on the field soon.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington (hamstring) is questionable to return against the Giants.

Ellington was injured on the first drive of the game for the Texans. We'll update you as more information becomes available on Ellington's status.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington catches all three targets in Week 2.

Ellington gained 45 yards on his three receptions versus the Titans. He's a reliable target for Deshaun Watson, but it's risky to trust him in fantasy lineups now that Will Fuller is healthy.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington scores in Week 1.

Ellington caught four-of-eight targets for 37 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots, with the score putting Houston within one possession with over two minutes to go in the game. Ellington faces the Titans in Week 2.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Texans re-signed Bruce Ellington.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says it's a one-year deal for Ellington. A hamstring injury cut Ellington's season short, but he played very well in 11 games (six starts) with Houston in 2017, catching 29 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns while making some big plays down the field and showing he can be a reliable target from the slot. He might not deliver reliable fantasy value in 2018, but he should contribute to the Texans in real life.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Texans placed Bruce Ellington (hamstring) on Injured Reserve.

Texans head coach Bill O'Brien indicated the hamstring injury Ellington suffered wasn't a mild one, and is season is now over. With only four games to go, this wasn't a surprise with the Texans all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Ellington had a solid season while stepping up as an option behind DeAndre Hopkins in the receiving group, as he caught 29 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns. He'll be a free agent this offseason, but Ellington is someone the Texans would probably like to bring back.

UPDATE: Bruce Ellington (hamstring) had one reception against the Titans.

We previously had Ellington down for two receptions for 34 yards before he left the Week 13 game, but it was his cousin Andre Ellington that had those receptions. Bruce Ellington had a seven-yard reception before leaving with his hamstring injury. We'll see if he's able to go in Week 14.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington leaves game with a hamstring injury

Ellington had two receptions for 34 receiving yards and two carries for -4 yards rushing, but it looks like his day might be done. We'll update you if Ellington ends up returning to the game.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington gets eight targets against the Ravens.

Ellington continues to be a key member of the Texans offense, but the Ravens did a nice job of limiting him in this one. Ellington had three receptions for 29 yards, as he had a long reception of 29 and couldn't get much going other than that. In deeper leagues, Ellington is in the FLEX conversation for Week 13.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington gets seven touches against the Cardinals.

Ellington caught six of seven targets for 63 yards and added a five-yard carry in the Week 11 win. He's been putting up pretty good numbers over the last two weeks, but Ellington isn't a recommended fantasy option next week against the Ravens.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington scores against the Rams.

Ellington was targeted eight times in the Week 10 loss, catching four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown. The score was was on a slant route that he took up the field, untouched, for 26 yards. It was Houston's only points of the game, and it was Ellington's second touchdown of the season. Ellington will try to score against his cousin, running back Andre Ellington's team next week as the Texans face the Cardinals.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington caught three passes for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis.

Ellington hasn't been a fantasy option since Will Fuller made his season debut, and he is even less likely to have a nice game with Deshaun Watson out of the lineup. He can stay on the waiver wire.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington catches one pass in Week 8.

Ellington was targeted four times, catching the one pass for 13 yards. He's a good contributor for the Texans on offense, but he doesn't get enough looks to be considered a good fantasy option right now.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington caught two passes for 22 yards in Sunday's 33-17 win over the Browns.

Ellington split time with Will Fuller and Braxton Miller behind DeAndre Hopkins, and Fuller's return has hurt him so far, as his production has dropped in each game since. The 26-year-old isn't a fantasy option against the Seahawks in Week 7.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington caught two passes for 30 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.

Ellington continues to operate as the team's third receiver behind DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, but even with Deshaun Watson at quarterback, it won't lead to consistent fantasy success. Houston faces Cleveland in Week 6.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington plays well in Week 4.

Ellington has played well so far this season, and he got the nod over 2016 second-rounder Braxton Miller, who was a healthy scratch for he game. Ellington had three receptions (on four targets) for 44 yards while also adding a 13-yard carry. He's contributing in a big way for the Texans in real life, but he's not yet a fantasy option.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington scores in loss to New England.

After missing Week 2 with a concussion, Ellington was back and a big contributor for the Texans. He caught four of seven targets for 59 yards and a touchdown from Deshaun Watson, and he did also have one carry that went for -1 yards. Ellington helped give a boost to the Texans passing game, and he'll look to keep it going next week against the Titans.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington is back at practice for the Texans.

Ellington passed concussion protocol and was a full participant in practice. He's ready to go for Week 3 against New England, and he might have a good game if the Pats try to take away number one receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2.

There just isn't enough time to get ready for a Thursday night game tomorrow against the Bengals, and the Texans decided to just play it safe and rule out the guys with concussions. Ellington will try to get ready for Week 3 in about a week and a half. DeAndre Hopkins is in line for a ton of targets against the Bengals.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington (concussion) leaves Week 1 game against the Jaguars.

Ellington didn't have any receptions before leaving the game, and Houston struggled to get anything going offensively against a stingy Jaguars defense. There's a quick turnaround for the Texans as they play the Bengals on Thursday night, so Ellington might not be ready for Week 2.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington plays great in preseason debut with the Texans.

The recently-signed receiver led the team in receiving in the exhibition against the Patriots, catching four-of-five targets for 93 yards. With DeAndre Hopkins and Braxton Miller out, Ellington started the game and his best play was a 37-yard reception where he went up and over Patriots corner Malcolm Butler and high-pointed the ball. Though he just arrived with the team, Ellington looks like a good bet to make the Texans.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Texans signed receiver Bruce Ellington.

Ellington was previously cut by the 49ers, then claimed and cut by the Jets after a failed physical, and now Houston signed him as a free agent. With receiver Will Fuller out for 2-3 months with a broken collarbone, Ellington might be able to both make the team and carve out a role with the Texans.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

Bruce Ellington failed his physical with the Jets.

The recent waiver wire pickup will now hit waivers again. It's unclear why Ellington didn't pass his physical, but he missed last season with a torn hamstring.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Jets claimed receiver Bruce Ellington, according to Adam Schefter.

The soon-to-be-26-year-old might be thrown into the young receiving group for the Jets. The team also claimed receiver/returner Lucky Whitehead from the Cowboys last week. The Jets are acquiring a ton of young talent at receiver, probably with the hopes of five or six of them rising up to be great contributors to the team in 2017 and beyond. Ellington does also have the ability to play running back, though, so maybe that's where he'll be with the Jets.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The 49ers are planning to release receiver Bruce Ellington today, according to Adam Schefter.

Ellington was looking to be a big part of Chip Kelly's offense last season until he tore his hamstring in training camp and missed the entire season. With a revamped receiving corps in San Fran, Kyle Shanahan and the Niners are deciding to move on from Ellington. The 25-year-old receiver will certainly get interest from teams and should land on his feet.
