Cardale Jones | Free Agent QB

The Seahawks released Cardale Jones.

Jones was on the practice squad, but he's being released to make room for another player. The former Ohio State quarterback should land with another practice squad soon.

The Seahawks are signing Cardale Jones to their practice squad.

Jones, who was just released by the Chargers last weekend, lands in a good spot to develop. The Ohio State product turns 27 later this month.

The Chargers are releasing Cardale Jones.

The big-armed Ohio State product should draw a good amount of interest from other teams, but the Chargers are going in another direction. Jones turns 26 next month.

Cardale Jones has cleared waivers and is signing with the Chargers practice squad, according to Ian Rapoport.

Jones was released after originally making the team's 53-man roster, but he will now get to stay in Los Angeles to develop behind Philip Rivers and Geno Smith. The former Ohio State star is still mobile with a huge arm, so hopefully he unlocks his potential on the practice squad.

The Chargers are releasing Cardale Jones, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The former national championship quarterback at Ohio State and 2016 fourth-round pick of the Bills will now be on his third team in three years in the league unless the Chargers bring him back on the practice squad, which is possible. Geno Smith is Philip Rivers' backup quarterback.

Cardale Jones plays good amount in Chargers' fourth preseason game.

Jones was 18/24 for 158 yards and an interception while adding three carries for 26 yards in the exhibition. Veteran Kellen Clemens, who didn't play in the game, looks locked in as Philip Rivers' backup, but Jones is a developmental guy for down the road with Los Angeles.

Cardale Jones completes just 2/9 passes for 50 yards in Chargers debut.

Traded to Los Angeles less than three weeks ago, Jones played behind incumbent backup Kellen Clemens, but neither had a good game. Head coach Anthony Lynn was with Jones last year in Buffalo as offensive coordinator, so Jones should know the offense by now, and we can't really use that as an excuse for the performance. Maybe he will be better with more time to adjust to the players around him, but, turning 25-years-old in September, the former Ohio State quarterback remains a significant project.

The Chargers have traded for quarterback Cardale Jones.

Jones is the big and talented national championship winning quarterback at Ohio State that was drafted in the fourth round by the Bills last year. Buffalo will get a conditional draft pick in return for him. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was just the offensive coordinator in Buffalo last year, and he obviously had the opportunity to watch Jones up close. The team worked out Robert Griffin III today and might have decided to opt on trading for Jones instead of signing him. The 6'5" quarterback has a cannon arm and showed major flashed in his short time at Ohio State. He has a chance to develop into the Chargers' next in line after Philip Rivers. In Buffalo, they might like what they've seen from rookie Nathan Peterman, who could potentially take over for Tyrod Taylor if the contract situation doesn't workout between him and the team.

During his press conference at the NFL Combine, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Cardale Jones is "an option" for the Bills next season.

There were reports that the Bills see Jones as a potential starter, and now their head coach has come out and said it. McDermott also said that he and GM Doug Whaley will make the decision on Tyrod Taylor (he has a huge contract that the Bills can get out of). It'll be interesting to see what happens with the Bills' quarterback situation.

Cardale Jones makes NFL debut.

Jones was inserted for E.J. Manuel for the Bills, with Tyrod Taylor not playing to apparently avoid injury. Jones was 6/11 for 96 yards and an interception. Obviously, Jones has a big arm, but he needs to improve other aspects of his game to be a starting quarterback. Jones will likely be the number two quarterback for the Bills next season. Maybe they'll hire a coach that can develop Jones.
