WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams (toe) is officially questionable to return for the Chiefs.

Williams hasn't been in for the second half against the Broncos, with Derrick Gore and Jerick McKinnon handling the backfield work, so we'd expect Williams will not return to Week 18. Before leaving, Williams had seven carries for 17 yards along with three receptions for 30 yards, and he nearly brought in a one-handed touchdown in the first half. Williams was as strong complementary piece in the Chiefs offense this regular season, totaling nearly 1,000 yards with eight total touchdowns. He'll next look to be a factor in the postseason.

The Chiefs placed Darrel Williams (hamstring) on injured reserve.

With Williams apparently dealing with a serious hamstring injury, this is not a surprise. Williams' season ends with 41 carries for 141 yards and three touchdowns along with 15 receptions for 167 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. The second-year running back played well enough to have a shot at a role in the Kansas City backfield again next year, and he's a decent hold in dynasty leagues this offseason.

Darrel Williams (hamstring) will not practice today.

This is not a surprise after Williams left with what appeared to be a serious hamstring injury a few days ago. We'll let you know if Williams happens to practice tomorrow, but we expect that he'll be ruled out on Friday.

Darrel Williams (hamstring) did not return for the Chiefs.

While Williams did not return for Kansas City, there's presumably good news, as the injury was officially called a hamstring injury instead of a knee. Before leaving, Williams carried six times for 13 yards and caught a three-yard touchdown. We would be very surprised if Williams is able to play next week against the Patriots.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams leaves game with apparent knee injury.

On an outside run, Williams suddenly went down awkwardly with an apparent non-contact injury. He tried to get up but was in obvious pain or discomfort and limped to the sideline. This has the look of a potentially serious injury, but hopefully this isn't quite as bad as it seems. Well update you when more information becomes available on Williams' status.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams scores twice in Week 4.

Williams carried eight times for 13 yards and two touchdowns and added three receptions for 43 yards along with a lost fumble in the Chiefs' win over the Lions. As his numbers indicate, both scores were of the short variety, but LeSean McCoy also had a touchdown at the goal line. Williams did a nice job as a receiver again, as he appeared to be used a similar way to Damien Williams, who missed his second consecutive game with a knee injury. If Damien Williams remains out, Darrel Williams is at least on the FLEX radar as a preferred option at the goal line that's handled touch totals of 14 and 11 in the last two games while playing in an elite offense.

Darrel Williams leads the Chiefs in Week 3 rushing.

Williams carried nine times for 62 yards along with five receptions for 47 yards in Kansas City's Week 3 victory versus Baltimore. While Darwin Thompson has become somewhat of a darling for many that follow fantasy football, it was Williams that took on a larger role with Damien Williams (knee) inactive for the Chiefs. LeSean McCoy left the game with an ankle injury but appears to be fineā€”if he's not, and Damien Williams remains out, Darrel Williams would be the clear top waiver wire pickup of the week. If you're looking for a high-upside hold from the Chiefs backfield on your bench, Williams looks like the guy over Thompson right now.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams scores in Chiefs' Divisional Round win.

Williams carried three times for nine yards and a touchdown in the playoff victory over the Colts. The score put Kansas City up three possessions late in the game, and he got some help from his teammates helping keep him up to get him into the end zone. The rookie running back caught a touchdown during the regular season, so this was his first career rushing score. Williams will mix in for the Chiefs next Sunday as they look to advance to the Super Bowl.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams rushed 11 times for 31 yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Williams continues to operate as the team's No. 2 runner with Spencer Ware out, and he finishes his first regular season with 13 attempts for 44 yards and three receptions for 27 yards and a score. The LSU product will look to mostly make an impact on special teams next month.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams (hamstring) did not return to tonight's game.

The rookie running back did not receive any touches on offense before leaving against the Seahawks. Now we just have to hope this isn't a multi-week injury. Spencer Ware is also dealing with a hamstring injury that's forced him to miss the last two games, but he's probably close to a return.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams (hamstring) is questionable to return against the Seahawks.

We didn't see when Williams was hurt, but it happened sometime in the first quarter. He went back in the locker room, so it might not be good. Damien Williams could be set for a big workload if the rookie Williams isn't able to return.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams scores first career touchdown in Week 15 loss.

Williams rushed twice for 13 yards and caught two passes for 19 yards, including an 11-yard score on a screen pass in the first quarter. The rookie out of LSU didn't get much work, but he made the most of his touches and could be a factor down the stretch and into the postseason. That said, Williams will only be on the FLEX radar if Spencer Ware (shoulder/hamstring) misses another game.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

Darrel Williams gets one touch in Week 14.

Williams caught one pass for eight yards against the Ravens. The rookie running back didn't appear to get into the game until overtime, when Spencer Ware was out with a hamstring injury. If Ware misses Thursday night against the Chargers, Williams would enter the FLEX conversation in deeper leagues.

Darrel Williams | Cardinals RB

The Chiefs signed running back Darrel Williams as an undrafted free agent.

Stuck behind Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice at LSU, Williams didn't put up big numbers during his college career in Baton Rouge. Williams is a big and powerful back, but his best contributions to start his NFL career will likely come on special teams. He's also seen as a high-character guy, so that should help him as he attempts to make an NFL roster as an undrafted rookie.
