WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas is voluntarily opting out of the 2020 season.

Thomas spent time with both the Ravens and Chiefs last season, but he will spend this year on the reserve list. It will be interesting to see if any big-time star players decide not to play in 2020, which would certainly derail some early drafters.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

The Ravens signed De'Anthony Thomas to a one-year deal.

The receiver/return specialist returns to a Super Bowl contender after playing in eight games for Baltimore last season. Thomas will mostly contribute on special teams, but perhaps he can get more time on offense this year.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

The Ravens have signed De'Anthony Thomas.

Thomas has only played with the Chiefs throughout his career (including this season), but he will now sign with another AFC contender. While the electric 26-year-old is expected to mostly contribute on special teams, it will be interesting to see him Baltimore gives him some offensive touches to add another dimension to the Lamar Jackson-led attack.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

The Chiefs have released De'Anthony Thomas.

Kansas City needed room on the active roster to promote quarterback Kyle Shurmur, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Thomas eventually back with the team. For now, the Oregon product is off the fantasy radar.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

The Chiefs have re-signed De'Anthony Thomas.

The self-proclaimed original "Black Mamba" is back with the Chiefs after lasting months as a free agent after last season. Thomas has played for the Chiefs for five seasons, but he's still just 26 years old. The former Oregon star will likely be a better real-life contributor as a versatile and explosive situational playmaker than he will a fantasy asset in 2019.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas re-fractured his leg, Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder announced.

Thomas broke his leg at the end of the regular season last year, and he had it re-fractured when it was stepped on from behind during yesterday's practice. The Chiefs say Thomas won't need surgery, but this is tough luck for the Oregon product. His season could be over, and we'll see if he's sent to injured reserve soon.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas catches lone target against the Jaguars.

Thomas gained 13 yards on his one reception in the Week 5 victory. The Black Mamba is too risky to trust in fantasy lineups in standard-sized leagues.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas gets two offensive touches in Week 4.

Thomas had one carry for six yards and one reception for 15 yards against the Broncos. Thomas is yet another explosive weapon for the Chiefs, but he's more of a real-life contributor than fantasy contributor.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas returns long punt in Week 2.

Thomas had a spectacular 48-yard punt return to set up a Chiefs touchdown. On the return he fumbled the ball and bobbled it in the air, but he kept control in stride down the sideline and nearly scored. Unless you are in a league with return yardage for points, Thomas is not a fantasy option in an offense with so many other weapons.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas scores in Week 1 win.

Thomas went in motion and caught a one-yard touchdown on his only offensive touch of the game. The original Black Mamba will mostly be used as a returner for Kansas City, so he can be ignored for fantasy purposes on a loaded offense.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De’Anthony Thomas has re-signed with the Chiefs.

The Black Mamba apparently had an offer worth $1.5 million more on the table from another team, but he wants to remain in Kansas City. He probably won’t be higher than fourth on the depth chart, but Thomas should provide good special teams value. The Chiefs easily have the fastest receiving core in the NFL.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas leaves game with apparent lower leg injury.

Thomas just appeared to get rolled up on against the Broncos, and unfortunately the cart is being brought out onto the field. It looks like this is a serious injury for Thomas that'll likely keep him out for the playoffs. More information on the extent of Thomas' injury should be available within the next 24 hours.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas catches two passes against the Chargers.

Thomas gained six yards on his two receptions, including a nice catch on third down to get the Chiefs four yards closer for a long field goal. "Black Mamba" isn't a fantasy option right now, but he'll contribute for Kansas City when called upon.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas catches two passes against the Giants.

Thomas gained 11 yards on his two receptions, and he did drop a punt but had it recovered by the Chiefs. Thomas' role isn't big enough to be a fantasy option.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas caught three passes for 41 yards in Sunday's loss to Dallas.

The Black Mamba isn't a fantasy option with Kansas City heading into their Week 10 bye.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas catches on pass in Week 7.

The speedy receiver caught a pass in the flat for two yards on his lone target against the Raiders. The playmaker isn't getting enough opportunities to be trusted in fantasy lineups.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas scores 57-yard touchdown in loss to the Steelers.

Thomas caught three passes for 61 yards and the score, which came in the fourth quarter and brought the Chiefs within two before Antonio Brown answered with a long touchdown of his own. The "Black Mamba" is an explosive player, but he isn't a reliable fantasy option. The Chiefs play the Raiders on TNF for Week 7.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas scores in Week 5 win.

Thomas caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter as the Chiefs topped the Texans on Sunday Night Football. He isn't a fantasy option on a loaded offense.

De’Anthony Thomas | Ravens WR

De'Anthony Thomas takes kick to the house in preseason game.

Thomas returned a kick in the first half of the Week 3 preseason exhibition against Seattle for a 95-yard touchdown. The former Oregon star accelerated up the field and shed a couple tackles before getting to the sideline and easily zooming to the end zone. With fellow dynamic receiver Tyreek Hill not returning kicks this year, the Chiefs will be looking for this from Thomas during the season—and it's something he's certainly shown he can do. And fantasy owners of Kansas City's defense will also be happy if he makes plays like that this year. Thomas also had a seven-yard reception in the game.
