WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Derek Anderson has retired from the NFL.

Anderson came out of retirement during last season to join the Bills and help them out with their quarterback situation while mentoring rookie Josh Allen, but he's now officially calling it a career after 14 NFL seasons. Anderson played for the Browns, Cardinals, Panthers, and Bills, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl with Cleveland in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdowns (and 19 interceptions) while leading the team to a 10-5 record in his 15 starts. For his career, Anderson threw for 10,878 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 64 interceptions while completing 54.3% of his passes. We wish Anderson the best in his post-playing-career life.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Derek Anderson (concussion) has officially been ruled out for tomorrow's game.

This was fully expected after the veteran quarterback suffered a concussion in Monday's loss to the Patriots. Nathan Peterman is set to get the start against the Bears. It's difficult to trust anyone in Buffalo's offense as a strong fantasy option for Week 9, but LeSean McCoy is in the FLEX conversation.

Derek Anderson has a concussion.

This is likely part of what forced the veteran quarterback out of the end of last night's game, though he appeared to be holding his arm, too. Hopefully Anderson is feeling better soon, but second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman is expected to start against the Bears on Sunday.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Derek Anderson leaves Monday night game with apparent forearm injury.

On Buffalo's final offensive drive, the 35-year-old quarterback was sacked and stayed down for a bit before leading to the locker room while appearing to favor his right throwing arm. Before leaving, Anderson was 22/39 for 290 yards and an interception (a pick-six late in the game) along with a fumble lost. Overall, Anderson played well given the circumstances and gave his receivers chances to make plays. Hopefully he's OK, but he won't be a fantasy option if healthy against the Bears next week.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

The Bills have announced that Derek Anderson will start again in Week 8.

Josh Allen (elbow) won't be able to return, so Buffalo is sticking with Anderson after he threw for three interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Colts. The Bills play on Monday night against the Patriots, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Nathan Peterman get some playing time if Anderson struggles. The veteran isn't a recommended fantasy option.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Derek Anderson throws three interceptions in Bills' loss.

Anderson was in a very difficult position of having to start after just recently arriving with the team, and LeSean McCoy went down early in the game for the Bills, giving the veteran quarterback less to work with on offense. Anderson was 20/31 for 175 yards and three interceptions along with a fumble lost. He's not a recommended fantasy option next week agasint the Patriots.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

The Bills are starting Derek Anderson at quarterback this week.

The 35-year-old quarterback just arrived with the Bills last week, but he's getting the nod as the starter over second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman in Josh Allen's absence. Anderson has thrown for over 10,000 yards in his career, and he has familiarity with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll; Buffalo believes he gives them the best chance to compete and win games. Anderson is not a recommended fantasy option with a subpar supporting cast.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

The Bills signed quarterback Derek Anderson.

There was a lot of talk about this happening soon, and the Bills have officially added the veteran quarterback to their young QB room. The addition of Anderson is great for rookie Josh Allen, and great for second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman, for that matter. Anderson is obviously off the fantasy radar, but his experience and guidance will help Allen as he develops as Buffalo's franchise quarterback.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Anderson was 4/5 for 76 yards and one touchdown in the preseason opener versus the Texans.

The veteran got the start with Cam Newton resting his shoulder, but he quickly gave way to Joe Webb. Anderson's touchdown was a nice high-point throw to Kelvin Benjamin in the front corner of the end zone. He'll back up Newton again in the regular season.
