Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief is signing with the Texans.

General manager Nick Caserio has wasted no time reshaping the roster, as Moncrief is yet another veteran added this week. The former Colts standout will hope to win a job this summer, but he’s not currently a recommended fantasy option.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Patriots signed Donte Moncrief to the active roster.

Moncrief impressed while on the practice squad, and he's now getting an opportunity on the 53-man roster. Moncrief has big red-zone upside and fits the mold of the type of target Cam Newton has had success targeting in scoring territory. The big receiver has said he'll do whatever the team needs from him, and he's looking like a good fit within the organization.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Patriots signed Donte Moncrief to the practice squad.

The veteran receiver could quickly move up to the active roster if all goes well in practice and he forms a connection with Cam Newton. For this week, it's possible he gives some small insight on New England's Week 9 opponent after spending time with the Jets earlier this year.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Jets restored Donte Moncrief to the practice squad.

Moncrief will provide depth for the Jets receiving corps, but he's not currently on the redraft radar from a fantasy perspective.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Jets placed Donte Moncrief on practice squad IR.

The veteran receiver is off the redraft radar at the moment, and you're probably better off going in another direction if you currently roster him in extremely deep dynasty leagues.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Jets are signing Donte Moncrief, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

New York is thin at receiver with rookie Denzel Mims missing time due to a hamstring injury, and Moncrief is still just a young 27 (his birthday was earlier this month). That said, the veteran isn't a lock to stick around into the regular season and is unlikely to make a significant fantasy impact if he does.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Panthers waived Donte Moncrief.

Moncrief didn't get much playing time in his three games with Carolina, and the Panthers are now moving in another direction. The big receiver should draw interest from other teams soon, and it's possible he gets claimed on waivers.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Panthers have claimed Donte Moncrief, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Moncrief opened the season as a starter in Pittsburgh, but they are going with the younger guys behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, and it didn't make sense to keep the veteran on the roster. There likely won't be enough volume in Carolina with Christian McCaffrey soaking up touches and the starting receivers set with Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore, but long term, Moncrief has the size that others on the roster don't—potentially setting him up for a sizable red zone role.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Steelers have released Donte Moncrief.

Moncrief opened the season as a starter for Pittsburgh, but he struggled early, and the team is moving on after his role diminished over the past few weeks. The former Colts standout—who is still just 26—should quickly find a new team, but there probably isn’t a situation that would allow him to return instant fantasy value.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief is officially inactive for the Steelers.

The Steelers are promoting Diontae Johnson to the starting lineup, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Washington, and Johnson will be the team's top three receivers moving forward. Moncrief can be dropped in any fantasy leagues he was owned in.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief reached an agreement on a two-year deal with the Steelers, according to Adam Schefter.

Moncrief wasn’t able to take advantage of a one-year, prove-it deal last season in Jacksonville, but this is probably the best possible landing spot for his fantasy value in 2019 and 2020. He won’t be assured of a starting job, but Moncrief should at least have the inside track in three-wide sets alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington. We think Moncrief is worth targeting in dynasty leagues with the hope JuJu continues playing significant snaps in the slot—thus making Eli Rogers less of a threat for playing time.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches two passes against the Texans.

Moncrief gained 21 yards on his two Week 17 receptions. Moncrief's season ends with 48 receptions for 668 yards and three touchdowns, and the good news is that he was able to stay healthy for a full 16 games. However, he probably didn't build a ton of value with his one-year deal, and it'll be interesting to see which teams are interested in the big receiver. The Jags will likely be interested in bringing him back, but he ultimately might have more fantasy value elsewhere.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief caught four passes for 43 yards in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.

Moncrief brought in all four of his targets, but the Jaguars simply don't have much explosiveness in the passing game. Despite a good matchup against Houston, fantasy owners are probably better off looking elsewhere in Week 17.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief held without a catch in loss to the Redskins.

He was targeted twice, but Dede Westbrook was the only wideout to record a receptions. Moncrief can stay on the waiver wire for the fantasy championship.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches five passes in Jaguars' loss.

Moncrief gained 47 yards on his five receptions versus the Titans. His ten targets tied a team-high for Jacksonville, but he had a couple of missed opportunities on deep balls; first, he appeared to not outstretch his arms enough to make a catch on what looked like a perfect throw early in the game, perhaps because he misjudged the ball; then, late in the game he made a nice adjustment on a fourth-down deep ball but dropped it. The good news is the opportunities were there, and Moncrief will look to bounce back with a stronger overall game in Week 15.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches three passes in Jaguars' win.

Moncrief gained 40 yards on his three receptions against the Colts. Moncrief has breakout potential every week, but he's not a recommended fantasy option this Thursday night against a Titans team he had negative fantasy points against earlier this season.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches 29-yard pass in Week 12 loss.

It was his only grab of the game, and to make matters worse, it was just short of the end zone (after originally being ruled a touchdown). Moncrief will be tough to trust next week against his former team when the surging Colts come to town.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief held to one reception in Week 11 loss.

It went for 11 yards. Moncrief should make some plays, but he's just not a strong fantasy play on a run-first offense with Blake Bortles struggling mightily. The Ole Miss product could see a lot of Tre'Davious White next week in Buffalo.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches long touchdown in Week 10.

Moncrief caught an 80-yard touchdown on a deep corner route where he broke one tackle and was off to the races. Overall, Moncrief caught three passes for 98 yards and a touchdown against his former Colts team. Moncrief is playing well, and he's in the FLEX mix next week against the Steelers; however, he offers a low floor in lineups.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief caught four passes for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

Moncrief led all wideouts in targets (seven) and yards, but Blake Bortles mostly connected with T.J. Yeldon on a day that Jacksonville aired it out 41 times. On pace for a 58/758/4 line, Moncrief isn't a must-hold heading into the bye week; the Jaguars will face the Colts in Week 10.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief leads the Jaguars in Week 7 receiving.

Moncrief was targeted ten times against the Texans, gaining 76 yards on seven receptions. Moncrief was the only receiver with over 40 receiving yards in the game. Next week, Moncrief faces an Eagles team with smaller corners, so perhaps he'll get some opportunities on jump-ball situations in the end zone.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief doesn't catch a pass in Week 6.

Moncrief and Blake Bortles just couldn't connect, including deep down the field, against the Cowboys. This comes after lines of 5/109/1 and 6/76 the last two weeks. Moncrief will look to bounce back against the Texans in Week 7.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief leads Jaguars in Week 6 receiving.

Moncrief was targeted a team-high 15 times against the Chiefs, catching six passes for 76 yards. Next week against Byron Jones and the Cowboys is not an easy matchup for Monrief, but he's been a top target for Blake Bortles these last two weeks.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches long touchdown in Jaguars' win.

Moncrief caught all five targets against the Jets, gaining 109 yards with a score in the Week 4 victory. The touchdown was a 67-yarder down the right sideline, where Moncrief got behind the corner and was off to the races. Through four games, Moncrief is on pace for 48 receptions, 692 yards, and eight touchdowns. Perhaps this 100-yard effort will get him going moving forward.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief loses a fumble in Week 3.

Moncrief caught two passes for 16 yards with a fumble lost against the Titans. It wasn't really a good game for anyone on the Jacksonville offense, and Moncrief will look to bounce back next week against the Jets.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief scores in Week 2 win over the Patriots.

Moncrief got things going with a four-yard touchdown in the first quarter of a 31-20 victory. The former Colt finished with four receptions for 34 yards and the score. He gets another solid matchup against the Titans in Week 3, but Moncrief is probably only worth owning and/or starting for owners in a bind at receiver.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief (knee) has returned against the Patriots.

Moncrief was called questionable because of a knee injury, but he's back in there in the fourth quarter.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief (knee) is questionable to return against the Patriots.

It's unclear when Moncrief was injured, so hopefully he can return to the game soon. Moncrief caught a touchdown on an end-zone fade earlier.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches one pass in Week 1.

Moncrief was targeted five times against the Giants, but he and Blake Bortles could not connect for much. Moncrief gained 14 yards on his lone reception. There's a chance Stephon Gilmore is on Moncrief for much of next week's game, so he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief is listed as a third-string receiver on the Jaguars' first unofficial depth chart.

Keelan Cole, Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook, and D.J. Chark Jr. are all listed ahead of Moncrief. This is unofficial, and the coaches might not even have had any impact and might not care about it, but it's worth noting. Moncrief was paid to step into a sizable role in 2018, but Jacksonville has one of the deepest wide receiver groups in the league. We'll have to watch how snaps shake out in preseason games.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

John Oehser of Jaguars.com says Donte Moncrief "seems likely to be a major contributor" this season.

Oehser did qualify this by saying that Moncrief needs to stay healthy to have a good season. But when projecting Jacksonville's starters on offense, Oehser believes it'll be Marqise Lee and Moncrief as the top two guys. The Jags have a very deep receiver group, but they gave Moncrief nearly $10 million (for one season) in free agency, so they must have high hopes for him. Moncrief reportedly "showed speed and athleticism" throughout the offseason, and he has the size to be a solid red-zone threat for Blake Bortles. Jacksonville is a run-based team, and Moncrief has never had over 750 receiving yards in any of his first four NFL seasons, but he could potentially be a usable fantasy option this season if he has a sizable role. It's likely the Jaguars rotate receivers in a lot, though, which limits Moncrief's upside.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Jaguars officially signed wide Donte Moncrief.

One of the more surprising agreements during the legal tampering period has become official, and Moncrief will now look to carve out a nice role with the Jaguars. Considering he’s likely to be the biggest wide receiver in the Jags receiving corps this season and has good jump-ball ability, Moncrief should deliver scoring upside in the red zone. He’ll be a late-round flier in 2018 fantasy drafts.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Wide receiver Donte Moncrief plans to sign with the Jaguars, according to Adam Schefter.

This one is a bit of a surprise, as the Jaguars have a crowded receiving corps even after letting Allen Robinson head to Chicago as a free agent. Adding Moncrief, who is still only 24 years old (he will be 25 in August), should create competition among the young group of receivers in Jacksonville. If all goes according to plan, the signing should become official in the next day or so.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief gets eight targets in Week 13.

His eight targets were a team-high for the Colts, and he caught five passes for 37 yards in the loss to Jacksonville. The contract-year receiver is difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches one pass in Week 12.

Moncrief gained 16 yards on his lone reception versus the Titans. The contract-year receiver has the potential to make big plays for the Colts, but he's a very risky fantasy option right now.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief scores 60-yard touchdown in Week 10 loss.

It was Moncrief's only reception of the game, and his first touchdown since the first day of October. With the Colts heading into a bye week, it's safe to leave Moncrief on the waiver wire.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief held to one reception against the Texans.

It went for seven yards. Moncrief just doesn't put up the same numbers as he does with Andrew Luck under center. He can be dropped with Luck ruled out for the season last week.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief doesn't catch a pass in Week 8.

The contract-year receiver simply wasn't targeted by Jacoby Brissett in the game, and it appears his role is not big enough to have any fantasy value right now. Through eight games, Moncrief is on pace for 36 receptions, 542 yards, and two touchdowns—not at all close to what he'd like to be doing as he approaches free agency after the year.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches two passes in Week 7.

Moncrief gained 30 yards on his two receptions (four targets), with a long of 22 yards. He hasn't hit 70 yards yet this season, and his fantasy value is limited without Andrew Luck in the lineup.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief grabs five passes against the Titans.

Moncrief had his best game of the season, acting as a reliable target for Jacoby Brissett throughout the game on mostly short-intermediate routes. Moncrief gained 67 yards on his five receptions, with a long of 23 yards. The fourth-year receiver did have a chance at a touchdown that he probably should've had on a great throw by Brissett to the end zone, but it was good to see Moncrief bounce back after the early drop. He's not a recommended fantasy option in a difficult matchup with the Jaguars next week.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches all three targets in Week 5.

Moncrief gained 32 yards on his three receptions against the 49ers, including a nice catch on the game-winning field goal drive in overtime. Moncrief still isn't a reliable fantasy option with Andrew Luck (shoulder) out, but Luck could be back soon.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief scores in Week 4.

Moncrief caught all three targets and gained 30 yards with the score against the Seahawks. The touchdown was his first of the season and it came on a nice leaping catch on a jump ball in the end zone fro 18 yards. Through four games, Moncrief is on pace for 32 receptions, 568 yards, and four touchdowns, but his numbers should take a jump when Andrew Luck returns.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches two of three targets in Week 3 win.

Moncrief had 44 yards, including a long of 34, in the game against the Browns. With only five receptions through three games, the contract-year receiver probably shouldn't be in fantasy lineups until Andrew Luck returns.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches only two of eight targets in Week 2.

Moncrief gained 18 yards on his two receptions against the Cardinals. He'll try to get back on track in Week 3 against Cleveland, but it's difficult to trust him without Andrew Luck—Moncrief has three receptions through two games.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches 50-yard pass in season opener.

Moncrief was held without a catch until Jacoby Brissett entered the game in the fourth quarter and gave him a chance on a jump ball, and it was his only catch of the game. The 24-year-old receiver would benefit from T.Y. Hilton occupying Patrick Peterson next week, but it's tough to put him in the lineup without Andrew Luck active, which unfortunately could be a few more weeks.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief catches one pass for 55 yards in Colts' third preseason game.

Moncrief caught a post route from Scott Tolzien and immediately broke two tackles before running for a 55-yard gain. It was Moncrief's only target of the game. Andrew Luck being healthy for Week 1 would help, but Moncrief has some solid upside if he can stay healthy in 2017.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief is back practicing for the Colts.

Moncrief missed a few days with a mild AC joint sprain. Because the Colts don't play their first preseason game until Sunday, Moncrief might be able to suit up in the game.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief is day-to-day with a shoulder sprain.

Moncrief fell on his shoulder at practice, and Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said it's a mild AC joint sprain. Kevin Bowen of Colts.com believes it is the same shoulder that Moncrief fractured last season. The fourth-year receiver should be fine with the Colts calling him day-to-day, but he might just sit out the team's first preseason game next week.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Colts.com's Kevin Bowen believes Donte Moncrief's "should definitely see his numbers rise" this season.

Bowen was asked about T.Y. Hilton potentially seeing a drop in production with Moncrief healthy. He believes a healthy Moncrief should have some favorable matchups with Hilton drawing double coverage after he led the league in receiving last season. Moncrief played in nine games last season and had 30 receptions for 307 yards, so his numbers certainly should rise if he's healthy, but he did have seven touchdowns in 2016. Perhaps Moncrief will be able to stay away from Patrick Peterson, Joe Haden, and Richard Sherman when the Colts play Arizona, Cleveland, and Seattle in Weeks 2-4, which could lead to him being a go-to guy for Luck to open the season. The soon-to-be-24-year-old is entering a contract year in his fourth NFL season.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief says he's in "the best shape" he's been in.

The Colts' big receiver dropped nine pounds from 223 to 214 and says he feels "better, faster, and lighter." Moncrief has never topped 800 yards through three seasons and has battled injuries, but he's been a touchdown machine at times and is entering the final year of his rookie deal. He reportedly made a bunch of plays during OTAs and minicamp with T.Y. Hilton sitting out, and new GM Chris Ballard said that Moncrief had an "outstanding, outstanding offseason" and has "great upside" for the team. Slimmer and in great shape, Moncrief could breakout for a 1,000-yard, double-digit touchdown season as he approaches free agency in 2018.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Colts receiver coach Sanjay Lal told Zak Keefer that Donte Moncrief can be "one of the better receivers in the league."

All of what coach Lal told Keefer is in the link below. Lal said Moncrief "has all the tools." At 6'2" and about 220 pounds with good speed and athleticism, Moncrief offers a lot of upside for the Colts. Last season, he only played nine games because of a shoulder injury, but he was a touchdowns machine, scoring seven touchdowns in those nine games. Former Raven Kamar Aiken is also in the receiver mix for the Colts, but Moncrief should offer good upside in the middle of 2017 fantasy drafts.

Donte Moncrief returns to action and catches a touchdown.

After missing last week with a hamstring injury, Moncreif had two catches for 30 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders. As a great touchdown-maker, Moncrief is a WR2 to close out the season against the Jaguars.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief (hamstring) is out against the Vikings in Week 15.

It obviously hurts Andrew Luck and the Colts offense in a tough matchup with Minnesota. Luck will rely on T.Y. Hilton, while the Vikings will likely try to key on T.Y. throughout the game. The Vikings defense is a good play this week, facing a banged up Colts offense.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Moncrief (hamstring) still not practicing on Thursday.

It doesn't look like he will play this Sunday in Minnesota, which wouldn't have been a good matchup anyway. TE Jack Doyle would benefit the most from Moncrief's absence.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief (hamstring) leaves game in 4th quarter.

Moncreif was held without a catch, so he obviously did not score in the loss to the Texans, which snapped his streak of catching a touchdown in every game since returning from injury. If he does somehow get healed up for Week 15, Moncrief won't be a recommended start versus Minnesota.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Moncrief scores again in win.

He finished with four catches for 26 yards and one touchdown. Moncrief now has scored a touchdown in all five games since his five-week absence, and has been between eight and 11 fantasy points in each game. He's a solid WR2 in the fantasy playoffs.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Donte Moncrief finds end zone again even without Luck.

It was the only touchdown for the Colts on Thanksgiving. Moncrief ended up with six catches for 45 yards and the score. It was about as good a game as could be expected; Moncrief will be back on the WR2 map with Luck back next week.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

Moncrief scores again in Week 11.

He had four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. Moncrief is a touchdown machine, and has four in his five games played this season. Owners that showed patience by keeping him on their roster while he was out are being rewarded. He’s a solid WR2.
