Drew Sample is dealing with a high-ankle sprain.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that the second-round rookie tight end is a candidate for injured reserve. The bottom line is Sample is likely to miss at least a few weeks with this high-ankle sprain, which is unfortunate for his development.

Drew Sample (left ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of todays's game.
Before leaving the second-round rookie tight end had one reception for three yards. Hopefully this isn't a long-term injury, and the good news is he was able to limp around under his own power.

The Bengals have selected Washington tight end Drew Sample with the No. 52 pick (second round) in the 2019 NFL Draft.
This is a slight surprise, but Cincinnati decided to target a tight end, and the big three of T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant, and Irv Smith Jr. were off the board. Sample is six-foot-six, 255 pounds with 4.71, and he's a really good blocker that can contribute immediately in the running game for Zac Taylor's offense. Sample likely won't be a fantasy factor in 2019.
