WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (knee) ruled out for Week 16.

The team had expressed doubt about his status, so this isn’t a surprise, and Jeff Wilson Jr. will draw another start. Also, Trey Sermon might get a chance for some touches of activated from injured reserve, but Wilson is clearly the top play as a quality RB2 against the Titans.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (concussion/knee) has been ruled out for Week 15.

Mitchell will miss his second consecutive game. The rookie running back is close to clearing concussion protocol, but he's also dealing with the knee issue and looks shaky for Week 16's Thursday night matchup against the Titans. Jeff Wilson Jr. will start at running back for the Niners this weekend, with Deebo Samuel likely getting a good amount of work as a ball-carrier again.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (finger/ribs/concussion) has been ruled out for Week 14.

Mitchell remains in the concussion protocol and is also still dealing with the finger and ribs, so it's not a surprise that he's being ruled out ahead of the weekend. Jeff Wilson Jr. is in line to start at running back for the Niners this Sunday against the Bengals. Hopefully Mitchell is feeling better soon.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell is dealing with a knee injury.

Mitchell had an MRI on his knee, and it doesn't sound like anything serious was revealed. However, this paired with Mitchell being in the concussion protocol makes it look like an uphill battle for him to play in Week 14.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell is in concussion protocol.

Mitchell has symptoms this morning, according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, and he's in the concussion protocol. It appears this might have happened on a play yesterday where he was hit and lost the ball (though it was not ruled a fumble). Hopefully Mitchell is feeling better soon. He'll have to pass the concussion protocol to play in Week 14 in six days.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (finger) is officially active for Week 12.

Mitchell is back after missing just one game following finger surgery, and the rookie running back is set to lead the 49ers backfield today against the Vikings.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (finger) is officially inactive for the 49ers.

Mitchell was listed as doubtful on Friday after recent surgery on a fractured finger, so this was expected. Jeff Wilson Jr. will lead the San Francisco backfield today against the Jaguars, with rookie Trey Sermon potentially mixing in for more work than he’s gotten.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (finger) is doubtful for Week 11.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan had been making it as if Mitchell would end up playing this week, but he likely won't be able to following finger surgery, which sets up Jeff Wilson Jr. to start, and he could handle a significant workload against Jacksonville. Also, third-round pick Trey Sermon could see his first offensive action since Week 5, and he's worth a speculative add in case he impresses this weekend. Consider Wilson Jr. a strong RB2 option if Mitchell is indeed out.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (finger) is having a procedure done.

The rookie's status is said to be unclear, but getting surgery isn't a good sign, especially since Kyle Shanahan might not want ball security to be a possible concern with others capable of stepping up in the backfield. While there is a chance Mitchell is able to suit up as soon as Week 11, fantasy owners shouldn't count on it, and Jeff Wilson Jr. needs to be rostered in all leagues as a potential plug-and-play RB2. This news could also give Trey Sermon another shot for the run-heavy Niners.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (ribs) is officially active for Week 9.

Mitchell is banged up, but he’s giving it a go today against the Cardinals. The concern now is that Jeff Wilson Jr. (knee) will be active for the first time this year, so we’ll see if Mitchell’s workload is limited at less than 100%.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) will play in Week 5.

Mitchell will suit up after a two-game absence, and he's expected to start for the Niners. That said, Trey Sermon could see quite a bit of action in what will be a run-heavy attack, and he's apparently been studying Alfred Morris in preparation for whatever game plan Kyle Shanahan has in store with Trey Lance at quarterback. Consider Mitchell a low-end RB2/FLEX and Sermon as a strong FLEX.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is officially questionable for Week 4.

Mitchell is still not 100% with his shoulder issue, but he’s making progress. If you’re planning to use Mitchell in fantasy lineups this week, it’s a good idea to have a back up plan in place in case he’s inactive for the 4:25 PM ET kickoff.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is doubtful for Week 3.

Mitchell apparently would have already been ruled out if San Francisco didn’t have a lot of new faces that might not have a great grasp of the offense, which could set up Trey Sermon for a featured workload. Fantasy owners shouldn’t count on Mitchell suiting up on Sunday.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) has returned for the 49ers.

With JaMycal Hasty (ankle) and Trey Sermon (head) both out, Mitchell is now back in the game late in the fourth quarter. There hasn't been a ton of room to run against the Eagles today, but the defense has softened up some late.

Elijah Mitchell | 49ers RB

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is questionable to return for the 49ers.

Mitchell was likely injured on a goal line carry where he took a bit hit and came up just short while lunging for the end zone. There hasn't been much room for Mitchell to run against a stout Eagles front today, and JaMycal Hasty has been the clear No. 2 runner ahead of rookie Trey Sermon.
