The Saints are placing Garrett Griffin (hamstring) on injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

New Orleans hopes to have him back when eligible, so we'll see if Griffin returns with the team potentially playing for a playoff spot in Week 18. Juwan Johnson and Nick Vannett will be the top options at tight end on Sunday night.

The Saints waived Garrett Griffin.

Griffin has great familiarity with the Saints and could be back soon in some capacity (practice squad or back on the active roster). The veteran tight end does not need to be rostered in dynasty leagues.

The Saints are waiving Garrett Griffin.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says New Orleans plans to sign Griffin to the practice squad, but the tight end first has to clear waivers. Griffin is not a must-hold even in extremely deep dynasty leagues.

Garrett Griffin suffers apparent leg injury in preseason game.

Griffin needed help to get over to the sideline and appeared unable to put much pressure on his leg. Griffin is probably battling for a roster spot, so hopefully he doesn’t miss much time past tonight.

Garrett Griffin scores in Saints' NFC title game loss.

Griffin caught two passes for 12 yards and a touchdown, with the score coming on a nice catch on a short pass off a Drew Brees rollout in the first quarter. This was the first career touchdown for the 2016 undrafted tight end, and it was the first postseason touchdown by a player from Air Force in league history. Griffin will look to carve out a role with New Orleans in 2019, but he's not a fantasy option as things stand heading into the offseason.
