WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Jake Luton | Jaguars QB

The Seahawks have waived Jake Luton.

Seattle will stick with Geno Smith as the lone quarterback behind Russell Wilson, but we'll see if the bring back Luton on the practice squad. The 1-2 squad has a big game against the 49ers in Week 4.

Jake Luton | Jaguars QB

The Seahawks are signing Jake Luton, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

A sixth-round pick of the Jaguars last year, Luton will be the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Russell Wilson and Geno Smith. Seattle will obviously hope he never needs to see the field as they compete in a tough NFC West.

Jake Luton | Jaguars QB

Jake Luton is expected to start for the Jaguars in Week 9.

Gardner Minshew's thumb injury is expected to keep him out this week, and Luton will take the first team reps in practice and is set to make his first career start, getting the nod over veteran Mike Glennon. Luton is a sixth-round rookie out of Oregon State, and he'll now get an opportunity to show what he can do in the NFL for a team looking to lock in its long-term franchise quarterback. From a fantasy perspective, this might be a slight downgrade for the skill position players for Jacksonville, though undrafted rookie running back James Robinson could get a heavy workload on the ground to make things easier on Luton.

Jake Luton | Jaguars QB

The Jaguars have selected Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton with the No. 189 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Luton is a strong-armed passer that will get a chance to compete for the No. 2 job behind Gardner Minshew, but it's clear Jacksonville feels comfortable with the second-year signal-caller after waiting until the sixth round to take a quarterback. There are suddenly a bunch of weapons in Jacksonville, but Luton likely wouldn't be a recommended streamer if Minshew ever goes down.
