WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

James Starks | Free Agent RB

The Packers have cut James Starks, according to Field Yates.

It appears Starks' Packers career is over, but he could always be brought back. Starks is really a great story, as he was a sixth round pick out of Buffalo that turned out to be an integral part of the Packers' Super Bowl run in 2010. He was a good contributor to Green Bay and has a ring to show for it. Starks should get an opportunity to make someone's roster this summer.

James Starks is in the concussion protocol.

Starks suffered a concussion in a car accident, and looks unlikely to play in Sunday's game in Chicago. Ty Montgomery was recently called a running back publicly by Mike McCarthy, and should be in for a huge workload as the starter, especially with Christine Michael still not fully grasping the playbook. Starks can be safely dropped if you've been holding onto him; Montgomery is an RB2/WR2 the rest of the way. As a side note, the temperature in Chicago this Sunday will be around 0 degrees.

James Starks drops on the depth chart in Week 13.

He had four carries for one yard. It appears Christine Michael has surpassed him on the depth chart. Starks is not an option next week against Seattle, and it's OK to drop him as he will likely be behind Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael for touches the remainder of this season.

James Starks | Free Agent RB

James Starks rushed 17 times for 41 yards and caught five passes for 27 yards in Monday night's win over the Eagles.

Starks was again ineffective as a ball carrier, but he remained the clear lead back and was involved as a pass-catcher again. Christine Michael did get some snaps last night, and he will probably get more as the weeks go on; he's a superior runner. Starks is just a decent FLEX next week against Houston.

James Starks | Free Agent RB

James Starks rushed nine times for 25 yards and caught five passes for 46 yards and one touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Redskins.

This is Starks second straight game with a receiving score since his return from injury. This time, it was an untouched 31-yard touchdown on a blown coverage by the Redskins. Starks has still been wildly ineffective as a ball carrier, and will likely lose work to Christine Michael as early as Week 12. Ty Montgomery needs to see more work, too. Starks will be just a decent FLEX against the Eagles.

Starks leads Packers backfield in return from injury.

With the Packer down big and early, Starks rushed just seven times for 33 yards, but added three catches for 11 yards and a touchdown. It was surprising to see the dynamic Ty Montgomery almost completely pushed out of the offense with Starks' return. We think Green Bay should play Montgomery, but it doesn't look like that's happening. Starks will be a decent FLEX this week against Washington.

James Starks (knee) is active for the Packers against the Titans.

WR Randall Cobb is also active. Starks was ineffective before his injury this season, averaging only 1.8 yards per carry. He does have a chance to make a fantasy impact, however. Keep him out of your lineup for this week, but Starks is definitely worth keeping on your bench as a potential difference maker in the Packers' offense.
